GOLDBUG SE CAME BUT........

I'm pretty sure the early Cabelas units had no "SE" designation. I checked them out a few weeks after Cabelas got them in and didn't see SE on the box. If I had to guess, I'd assume you are probably correct on what happened with the first unit you got. I'd also guess the person you talked to shouldn't have said it was "the latest updates for the GB SE" especially when it was the base "1" software. I might possibly be wrong but I don't think I am. I know my SE 2.9 was built in May. Your advice to seek confirmation as to what one is receiving from a dealer or a used unit if the term "SE" is involved is spot on.

Except that they will not confirm what version you are getting, especially if they are getting it from their supplier.I was told I was getting the latest update.in this case it is and most likely be a version 1.So your best bet if you want the newest version your going to have to order a Gold Bug Pro,or DP. The SE is a thing of the past, and if you did manage to order a new one like i did it it will be version 1.They will not check the version sent to you I was told. My dealer rectified the situation, by send ing me a Gold Bug Pro as I speak it is ordered. He is making up the difference out of his pocket, because he is honest and a man of his word.

Richard is Numero Uno in my book. Great guy.

I will keep backwoodsdetectors on my computer watch list. To find an honest detector dealer (especially on internet) is becoming a rarity. As far as the Gold Bug SE or Pro.........The SE version thing is confusing, the price was their selling point. It was known that when the Pro version came out the price would be higher. Basically Fisher was selling their transition models (guinea pig models) to anyone not wanting to wait for the Pro edition. With all the various SE versions out it the field it allowed Fisher to view all the feedbacks and then work out all the Bugs. Fisher has no intrest in upgrading an SE edition.....they want you to buy a Pro edition. I think Fisher should offer anyone that purchased the SE (new) to send it back to the company for a credit towards a new Pro edition. F.T. took long enough to release the Tek G2, is it not the same as the Gold Bug Pro DP???

You now my friends I will bend on my knees for investigative work you all did :please: but for big company to make such mistakes and not to resolve just giving back new version??? its make me mad! I wish you all good luck, but I will stay with my Tesoro Tejon. Stasys

Morerelic do you think I am happy with Tejon? No way, but what I was reading about goldbug G2 is very interesting.... 1,2.9,3 versions ? its new detector and so much problems? you dont buy mobile phone to found that one keyboard number dont work? and buy another the same mobile phone with working keyboard number on it for 100$ more? it would be very interesting to see how this problem would look if the same happened with much more wider consumers product like computers, mobile phones and etc. Toyota had problems with brake pedal -but its just brake pedal why we need good brakes?!!! good luck Stasys

Evolution or evil?
I am sorry I don't think FT did anything wrong. There are limits to what you can do for customers and it is often too darn expensive to provide service past a certain point. Everyone should have known what they were getting at a reduced price and it seems often FT did free upgrades when doing other service work. Ask Microsoft for free upgrades of Office or Windows for your computer see how that goes, I am sure they don't mind, right? Everyone got a great MD. If it did not work FT fixed it. If you tell the dealer you want something and don't get it it is not the factory's problem. Lighten up its a great machine!

[size=large]When the Fisher SE came out it was to only have VCO in All Metal... If you got VCO in both discrimate and all metal, then you got more than you paid for. In reality, what you got was a GB Pro....There was an error somewhere that got Pro programming into the SE, which really shouldn't have happened, but it did..If you got an SE with the single VCO in AM, that was the intent of FT for the SE to begin with... if you got both, you got a $599 detector for $499.. Best to all and hopefully that clears things up....
