WOW, what a Beauty !! Would you pleae comment on the laws for metal Detecting in Belgium. What is the landowner/MDer relationship like? Any similarities to the UK?

Magnificent! One can only conjure up the love story behind that Claddagh ring.

It looks old. It could go back to the 1700's, are there any goldsmith markings or initials in the ring?

No goldsmith markings in the ring
on the outer side contains the letters H S maybe the owner's initials
maybe I S H
Iesus hominum salvator (Jesus the savior of mankind)
these letters are very rare on a ring
the ring is 16 -17 century
