Gold Coin

Huge congrats!!! The ring is a trophy too. My best estimate looking at the workmanship on the ring it is probably of the same period as the gold dollar circulated. Man, sticking with that site was a great decision.

Impressive, are two excellent finds.:clapping: Congratulations, you deserve safe, work hard, walk, dig, study places, but sometimes, Lady Luck is quite generous.
The coin is very good but the ring is gorgeous
Best Regards

Super finds there surfman. Thats a heck of a spot you got to hunt there:detecting:

Update; Some one on Youtube researched the ring and found a John H. Dora on a civil war site. He was in the 3rd Delaware Infantry, Co.D. Gonna try to do some more research on it. Very cool to get some history on it. There's a lot of great people in this hobby. Thanks for all the kind words, Joe.

Holy you know what!!! That is absolutely beautiful!!! You should submit the story and pics to Garrett...I think you could win a Pro-Pointer for such an incredible find. Congratulations and hope you find more out there.

:clapping: way to go Joe I am tickled to death for you!!! What a great find that's a dream of everyone detecting one day finding a gold coin!!! Congrats!!! I'd be hunting that place to death!!!!!!!!!!

Go Joe! Wow, the Civil War history of the ring, if confirmed, make it a real treasure worth far more than the value of the gold and craftsmanship (not that you are likely to part with it, but...). Congratulations, again!

I have had that thrill 3 times. Big congrats.

I hope you have that coin and ring in a safe place. A lady in Albany, Ga discovered that someone had stolen a 1923 Saint Gaudens 20 dollar gold piece. I probably misspelled that, but my heart breaks for her as it was a family heirloom. I dispise a thief.

Congrats!:clapping:
this has been an insurmountable blow, the dream of all of us, has ten thousand points, 1000 bonus award and two extra balls ...

Thanks guys. Thought this thread was done. Been waiting for it to cool off some so I can get back out there. I'll keep you posted. Joe

Sweet! Gold and its a coin to boot! What a great find. That ring is a beaut too. I can understand why you were so shaky. It's gonna take awhile to come down from that high. Your efforts have been repaid tenfold. Congrats man, that is a great day of detecting you will never forget.
