Gold Coin

Was out today for a short hunt at an old site back in the woods. Been hunting this spot for a while now and it keeps me coming back. Needless to say today was the day. 1852 $1.00 Gold coin, couple buttons and a real nice ring all in about an hour or so. Still can't believe I found a gold coin. Rang up a 50/51 on the ATpro and a real nice tone. Actually thought it was going to be a nickel, shield or V, something like that. Anyway here's the pictures and the video. Thanks, Joe.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkcDW3inAhM

The Garrett gals want to take you out for supper!:cheekkiss:

Congrats! Every MD'ers dream find. It looks great. If I ever find one don't think I would sell it unless I really needed the money, its probably a once in a lifetime find.

That's a beauty. Congrats !

I've got 2 gold rings with the Pro that TID 61...they weighed in the 6-7 grammish territory..that one is so old, they didn't stamp them back then..Awesome you got them both on the vid and shared it with us!

Incredible! Those are the days that we live for!! What a gorgeous coin and in beautiful condition. The ring is sweet, too! Hope the site keeps on giving.

Congratulations on a great find, Surfman. WTG. Thanks for posting the photos and the video. It sure got my heart beating faster than it usually does and I just can't imagine how excited you were when you found it. A gold coin is the Holy Grail of our hobby. Hope this site keeps on giving up it's lost history to you. It sure makes me want to go dirt fishing, but I have to take my Mama to the doctor today and tomorrow, but the rest of the week is mine. At least 2-3 days anyway. Now if I could just find a Templeton Reid gold dollar coin or Bechter gold coin, that would be the ultimate thrill. They would find me laying there with this big old smile on my face and the coin clasped inside my hand and say that old fellow died happy. lol This coin should win a propointer and I hope it does. HH.

Thanks guys for all the kind words and comments. Thanks John for the link to Garrett, just submitted it for the find of the month. Mudpuppy was right, the ring is gold! Just cleaned it up, nice shiny gold. My first gold ring, can't believe it. Still on cloud nine. What a great day, my mom was so happy for me. Got me an extra hug and kiss. She's very happy for me and doesn't even know about the ring yet. Thanks again and a big thanks to Garrett for making such a great detector. You guys can see below what other detectors I own. I highly recommend the AT series detectors, they're easy to use, fun, very light weight not to mention they detect deep. The gold coin was shallow but a lot of the other finds I've made back there have been deep. Can't say enough, so glad I got mine, wish now I got sooner. Joe.
