WOW!
So I seldomly post on this forum unless I find something amazing to keep up with the best of them, but thought this was worthy!
So I am doing this thing called silver wars with a local club here in Portland OR and have been hitting newer but older (pre 64) sites to pick up rosies mercs ect.... I decided to go back to my old ways yesterday morning and hit up a park from 1920 to try to find something old. As all of you know these older parks have been pounded and it's even hard to find clad. So I got to the site at around 6:00 AM and had nothing to show for it by 8:30 (or so I thought). Come 8:30ish I had a lower than normal wheatie signal, but have found deep old Wheaties in this range so dug it and popped up an old green wheatie at about 9". I through it in my pocket and started again.... About 10 swings later I get an identical signal (higher than pull tab and just right below where an indian would be). I cut my plug about 6" recheck the hole. It's still in there (same range). take another 3" + out recheck and it's out. I see the rim of it sticking out the side of a dirt clump and think at first it's just a crappy token or something with a little gleam left on it. Boy was I wrong. Turns out to be a 1905 S $5 gold piece. I can not even explain my excitement!!!
So I drive home shaking LOL! get home showing the wife what I have found and start going through my junk pouch and rinsing off some of the "junk" stuff off. One of the "junk" items had a marking of T&CO 750 so I looked it up and was floored. Turns out it's 18K with 15 diamonds and weighs 5.5 grams! Just an unbelievable hunt today that words can't even express!
Check out the video link. I was like 50% sure what I had when filming than it hit me! Sorry for the Vulgarity:blush:
