Gold and Ice from the dry stuff..

Craig-PI

New member
My hunting partner PI-Joe went to the beach for his lunch break at work and in the time he was there got a nice signal he then called me and I was on the road and he asked me to bring my scale and diamond tester to test the ring.. its heavy 11.1 grams we think white gold and its got 16 diamonds in it all the way around.. Joe thinks it maybe a custom made ring because there is no gold mark on it. Joe was working the dry sand with his IDX-Pro

Joe just called me, his jeweler appraised it between 4 and 5 thousand bucks.. :)

Craig,
I just recently got a presidium duotester, and noticed that after it has been on a little while, it becomes unstable/ overly sensitive where the needle defects with just movement of the probe, and sometimes it does not even settle all the way down. Quite often it hovers from the bottom to the midpoint of the glass range. It makes no difference when testing diamonds, however, It seems to affect readings on other stone types. Have you ever experienced anything similar???
Best Regards,
Keith

I use to have a beach route, too bad I wasn't detecting back then.

Tell Joe, Great finds.

I found a diamond ring with 60 diamonds in it...at 14 k and the jewler said they were just commercial diamonds all cut and set individually and the appraisal of $1000 + or Minus a few...if they were gem diamonds then it would be more....heres a pic....I had a guy that worked in a jewlery store look at it with an 10X and he said it was some very clean diamonds........his first thought was between 6-8 hundred....so they must be Jem cut diamonds you have!!! Mine had 4 rows of 15 in each in each row.........sweet!

Keith.. I don't keep mine on that long so I haven't had those symptoms I turn it off after testing the stones, if its on a minute that is alot :) I know one thing though you have to press firmly but not too hard as to bend the wire you would think they would have made the probe a little more sturdy ;)

Thats a great looking ring Mattock congrats :) I'll never find anything like that as I hunt old beaches with very few fresh drops.. ;)

So, the one on his pinky finger is the ring, huh Craig? What about that fine unit on the next finger, is that treasure too? I like 'em both and tell Joe WTG!

Congrats to your friend Joe, Craig, killer ring wow wtg:yo:

Hey Crash,
You may have some static electricity build up/ interference on your diamond tester. Try wiping the unit down paying attention to the screen with one of those fabric softener dryer sheets. I know this works well on detectors with the meter and needle. Good Luck:thumbup:

Scott.. that ring Joe found a couple months ago as well its got a .55 carat diamond in it so yeah its treasure as well :) I am wearing a couple rings I found as well ;) The one he found yesterday is on his pinky..

We agree :) Joe is going to get it tested.. Jeweler tried polishing it and it didn't want to polish another hint it might be platinum.. We have a gold tester kit but don't have a plat kit..
