So I had my AT Pro sent to Garrett this week....It had a leak problem! It got there Thursday(late morning)......A new one is on its way back to me . Now thats service!! My minelab took forever. So I guess guys...weigh out your options when complaining (for those who do) . Be without a unit for weeks vs. days. Its all relative and this AT Pro Is a great unit! AND affordable

The only problem I have with Garrett is that they forgot to get back to me with a tracking number as promised by the service dept? (anybody from Garrett listening?)

That is great news! I agree completely with Garrett service. The last time I sent something to them the biggest delay was in transit both ways. Five days each way but Garrett turned the detector around and sent it back to me repaired in two days. Can not ask for much more than that. People can quibble all they want about the virtues of various detectors, but that all goes out the window if you cannot get them fixed any time soon.

I am glad to hear that. When reading the posts here it seems that hundreds of thousands are going back to Garrett. Even with the load of detectors going back they still are fixing detectors in a very short time. Maybe I am not seeing the big picture here? Don't want to get into words. So, Garrett is doing a great job. Thanks Garrett.... HH....Z

White's refused to repair one for me because the model was out of production.

Garrett will repair all previous metal detectors, providing they have the parts. I even managed to get a gasket for the AT3 from them last year. It was released in the late 80's

Indeed!:wiggle:My honey found me an old Ultra GTA 1000 at a garage sale a couple weeks ago. It was severely in need of some TLC and repair.:stretcher:
I sent it in to the repair department at Garrett's and they fixed it right up quick! New search coil, new circuit board(motherboard), and lots of other work done to it.
I got it back earlier this week and have been playin' around with it. I've owned these in the past, but it's been years since I had one. I forgot how much it is like my CX III.:detecting:
This machine is twenty years old and I think it's as good as anything made now(except for the AT Pro!)
Happy Hunting!

I agree like I said I called garrett told them the problem and new coil is on the way with a return label for the old one took 5 min on the phone Great Job !!:clapping:

I agree, You can't beat their service turn around. even though I've had to send mine back twice and the water headphones back once. I'll still keep my AT PRO. finds have been made in some well hunted spots all sitting in the same hole with iron targets.JMO

In some cases even if they no longer have the parts. On my Grand Master Hunter, the case was cracked and they took one off of a detector that they had for parts. Also the key pad was not longer available so they used a key pad from another model which would be functional but one of the keys would say something else. My point is that they took the time to find a solution and called me and asked my approval before proceeding. I like that kind of customer service and that is why they will continue to get my business in the future.

Wouldn't it be better if they didn't need to go back at all?

I don't get your point. Of course it is better if they didn't need to go back at all. However it is great to have a company who will take care of their product when it does have to be sent to the factory regardless of how old it is.

Gee, I'm sorry if I insulted anyones sensitivities here, guess I didn't tow the party line by my simple statement.

But I did dish out the cash for a new AT-Pro so I thought I might be entitled to an opinion.

Maybe not.

But I'll try to explain my point a little better.

In the business that I'm in we just try and make sure everything is correct before we ship it out, and we do 99.8% of the time.

I guess we're just old fashioned!

Great customer service is wonderful.

Great QC dept. is even better. IMHO

Good Hunting

No Problem Kirk. I think we all get your point. And you are right As far as how a lot of products are made and distributed today. Things will malfunction. The key is having a company that will back the product and serve the customer! I think GARRETT does that Exceptionally well. Thanks for your input!

Glad they looked after you Wayupnorth. I've sent my Omega back to the Australian distributor twice. No joy, so I rung up the factory in the States and explained the problem. Now I've got to send it over there instead. Garrett is the only brand that I've owned that I haven't had a poblem with, and I've owned all brands except Tesoro.
Mick Evans.

Well Mick. That sounds good and bad. Shipping time to the states is the bad part! Are you using the AT PRO for Gold nuggets? If you are, I would think it's exceptional at that.
