I've used the Vibraprobe and don't care for it. The auto on/off by flipping it is a hassle to me, and it doesn't seem to get nearly the depth of my Pro Pointer. Only thing I like about it is that it's waterproof, but after using one I'd rather just stick my Pro Pointer in a couple double walled ziplock bags or something and then throw rubber bands around it so it's not bulky to handle. Now I think there are/were several models of the Vibraprobe, so maybe the one I used was not the best model, but it was bought about a year ago new so I assume it's the latest version unless there are several versions being sold of it?
From what I've read the Pro Pointer can be made waterproof by filling the speaker hole with silicon, some over the led too, and then putting an extra o-ring or perhaps a thicker once under the battery cap to insure no leaking there. I never really read how well that worked for people though, so if anybody has please tell us. I have heard of some using vacuum storage food bags to make the Garrett waterproof. Heard that if you take all the air out of the bag it will prevent you from using the switch, but then heard the trick might be to not totally suck all the air out of the bag. That sounds like it might work pretty darn well and is probably the best method. Anybody?
