Garrett Metal Detectors Love Coins And Jewelry!

Got a foot of snow during the last couple of days. With this down time, I did a total of my finds so far this year. These were all found with either the AT Pro or my new Vortex VX9. Switching from the AT Po to the VX9 was a very easy transition. What I thought might be challenging (I struggle with my cell phone) with the VX9 screen was very simple. It was just a matter of digging all targets, and observing what the bars were were showing with their extra pixels. I run it in 5 audio tones, which still gives a high tone for silver/copper. There is no gold tone, as gold can read in a very large range, depending in it's mass and what other metal it is amalgamated with. I am really liking this unit. I haven't completely mastered it yet. I figure you have mastered a metal detector when you gat to the point where you can pretty well guess what's under the coil, regardless of the actual numbers or audio. Every metal detector speaks it's own language based on how you use it, set it up and deal with various mineralization levels.

Here are the ring totals so far this year. The VX9 got most of them.

Most of these gave off iffy signals. It costs you nothing to dig them and see what they are.

Lookin good with your VX9 you have, I also have one and going to get out soon with it as our ground is still froze. I can see it is going to be different but what I have seen it maybe not that hard to learn, but like any detector can fool you.
One thing I wonder about as I want to update it and from what I understand I followed instruction and set up my account and just wanted to download to my computer so I will ready to upgrade, but it wont download the installer from Garrett. I wonder if I have to hook the detector up too to download to me computer, or is there something you got to do before you can install it on the computer.
Getting anxious to get out and try my VX9 and see what it can do.

Best of Luck to you. May you have as much luck with your new vx9 as John has had with his.

I had to take a few runs at downloading the installer. I haven't a clue what I did, but I got it working. If you get stuck, call Garrett and they will work you through it 1-800-234-6151

Thanks for your opinion John and will try it some more, thought I must be doing something wrong and thought I would check if anyone else was having a problem. Have to give my instruction to my Grandson and let him try as it seem the younger generation is smarter on this stuff as I found out when I was doing TV and VCR repair. People would call me as many VCR need to be programed and found if they had a kid in the 6-8 year old I would tell them to have the kid check it out, most got it fixed.

Thanks again
