I have recently purchased a used but in extremely good condition Garrett Master Hunter CX plus and a treasure hound coil for $337 at a local pawn shop. Can anyone tell me if I got a good deal, and is this machine any good? I can't wait to start hunting.
Jim.

Thats a good deal. No second guessing there. Use to have a CX3 myself till a year ago. Also had the treasure hound coil with it. It was a great machine. The CXIII was the bigger brother to the one you have now...the 2500 replaced the cxIII. New, the one you got goes for around 700 with the treasure hound setup. You got a good deal for sure. The treasure hound coil is great for finding large objects that are deep. Have dug stuff 3 and 4 feet deep with the one I used to have. Will ignore the small stuff so works good around the old homesteads and old houses. Just know you will be doing some deep digging. Old plows, stuff like that. But what you can maybe find makes it worth it in the long run. Also works great for looking for meteorites. lots of walking in farmers fields but it will find them.

Good luck.

Yes....you got a great deal! The treasure hound will only pick up targets sized from about canning jar size up, and it will mmeasure it in feet, not inches.

The CX itself has a nice setup with both a deep true all metal mode and a discriminating mode, where you can tune out a lot of the junk. Below is a field test on the CX Model......

You got a helluva deal and a dandy machine, plus you can look for buried treasures with the Treasure Hound several feet down. Good luck.
