Maybe the minimal extra performance is enough to justify replacing the black one. But if you already have the black one, there are videos on Utube on how to completely waterproof it using Plastidip, essentially making your own carrot, or any color you want. It's completely removable and works just fine in any depth of water. Save your money. JJ

Saw one using ShoeGoo to do the same thing, altho I doubt that 'any' depth is correct. At some depth all of them will fail.

Thanks Kin for responding but not the same thing in the least. I'm not talking about covering your ProPointer in glue. 'Any' depth may have been a stretch. For most hunters in most situations, the Platidip fix will suffice.

I don't know your experience with Plastidip or its variants, but I have used it on tools for well over 2 decades. And here's a tip: PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to the stuff if you are counting on it to waterproof your PP. It easily abrades and tears, even thick coats, and youll need to reapply often. Of course, 'too often; and youll lose detecting depth!

Stick the Carrot end in the soil and turn it off, then back on. That will ground balance it and solve most falsing problems when sticking it in the holes.

This ain't no ground balancing issue I promise. When you can't turn off a "BRAND NEW" pointer
with the switch that hasn't seen the light of day since it was built at the factory, IT IS FAULTY>....

I got my carrott yesterday and if you don't have one then you absolutely need to find someone who
has one to see how much the performance has been upgraded.

Example: I got into a coin spill yesterday and CTX went wild. I pinpointed one coin with the CTX,
got on my knees and dug it up, took the Carrott and laid it on it's side sweeping it across the spill
and found 17 more coins. I then swept it with the CTX and nothing was left behind. All of these
coins were from 3 to 4 inches deep in sandy black soil with a low ph
