Garrett Carrot

It's great.

Strangely, the first time I used it I had horrible interference with the detector. I did a noise cancel and it made it a lot better. After that first day, I never had another problem even though I have noise-cancelled many times without the Carrot being turned on.

I love mine and the great thing about it is when you drop it in the water it is no problem, I had an issue with my old black one near water, this one solved the problem....I would never go back to the non-waterproof one again. It also seems to have more detection depth than the older model had, just my opinion....

Jason, I just 2 weeks ago bought the new Nokta with the 2 orange tips. I already had the Garrett Pro pointer (black original one)
and the Deteknix Xpointer. I did extensive and I mean extensive tests in the yard and on the table of all 3. They all 3 were within
1/8" of detection depth (with the tips off the Nokta) with both the Xpointer and Nokta at full power. The Garrett I have is over 3 years
old and has always falsed if you pushed the end or sides of it ""at all"". I even sent it back to Garrett before the warranty was out and
they said they did a complete rebuild of it but included a note warning me not to push dirt with it in any direction. I never have. If
the grass was thick, all I would do is press the grass down and it would go off and it had periods where it would go off with one loud
beep until you cut it off. It was for that reason I did not go with the Carrott. Does yours still have the same attitude as the original
one about pushing sideways or directly on the end with a small amount of pressure in the palm of your hand? I can't put my finger
on it but I just don't like this Nokta and would love to sell it while it is still new.

I have the old black Garrett and the new "carrot".
The Carrot is more powerful by a decent margin compared to my older black one.
The new one has 3 power settings compared to just one on the older model, and the medium setting is equal to my older black Garrett pointer.
They can get a little erratic and sparky at times. I just power it off and turn it back on or
ground ballence it and it's fine.

True Dat.
I love mine. My old Garrett became a chatterbox when it got hot in the sun after about a year, but the Carrot doesn't do that at all. Add in the waterproofing and the best pinpointer on the market got even better. And I say that as a Minelab fanboy too!

I have been very happy with mine....

I like the old one better just turn on and go the new one has to many things going on maybe I will get used to it though .

No, my carrot doesn't act that way. I have used an older black one that did what you describe, and mine does not. I can (and have) pushed, pulled, twisted and applied a bending pressure to my carrot and it never falsed.

I really like mine but...........after about 3 weeks sometimes when I turn it on the light comes on without activating the detector. Typically I notice it when I put it into the hole and can't find the target.

Turning it off and on again solves the problem.

Requesting an RMA to send back.for repair. Garrett's service is second to none but I would like to buy their product without having to have it repaired. (I went through 3 propointers, 2 back for the falsing.
Bought 2 AT Pro's and one leaked.)

One thing I noticed on mine the number two setting seems to have more sensitivity than the black one, and the one setting you need to have the tip very close to the target.

My Carrot will false if you push the tip in the ground or try to bend it if it's set in the Maximum #3 setting.
Doesn't happen in the #2 setting though.

The Nokta just left via priority mail back to Florida. Started falsing and the only thing that would
shut it off was to unscrew the cap and dump the battery. Just bought a new carrot. Should be
here by Saturday.

Maybe the minimal extra performance is enough to justify replacing the black one. But if you already have the black one, there are videos on Utube on how to completely waterproof it using Plastidip, essentially making your own carrot, or any color you want. It's completely removable and works just fine in any depth of water. Save your money. JJ

I have a hunting partner who went through 3 nokta PPs before giving up on them. 3rd one failed right out of the box.

Saw one using ShoeGoo to do the same thing, altho I doubt that 'any' depth is correct. At some depth all of them will fail.

Thanks Kin for responding but not the same thing in the least. I'm not talking about covering your ProPointer in glue. 'Any' depth may have been a stretch. For most hunters in most situations, the Platidip fix will suffice.

Mine hung up when I installed the battery. Cut it off and back on and still hung up. Went hunting that day and it
did it again one time. Got more repetitive so after 3 weeks I sent it back and ordered the carrot
