I think I like going to bank now

Dickens, I like going to the bank too. My bank gives out delicious freshly popped bags of popcorn regularly along with cookies and coffee. Plus once a year they have a customer appreciation day where they have pony rides and games for the kids and 15 minute chair massages for the adults. Very friendly folks based in the local community, and they don't charge you for every little service like many banks do.

Even an additional inch would be great and as you say, 2" would be a game changer. No doubt, I am going to have to give one a swing. HH jim tn

Glad you are, Jim.

Many of us are looking forward to hearing honest reports from respected early users like yourself.

Don't hold back. Good or bad, give us all your findings. Your opinions are highly valued here.

Thanks for the kind words marcomo. I haven't pre ordered one yet, but look forward to it getting released and into our hands. HH jim tn

Probably best to take Garrett marketing claims with a healthy dose of skepticism, but they are saying that increased transmit power and enhanced electronics will give the Max a significant depth increase.

I want to know if the all metal iron audio is the same as the AT Gold or were they able to get the iron audio in all metal to a low grunt instead of a high/low tone.

John, I hope you are right on the extra 2". We know it's going to have some additional depth just by the Max having a all metal mode. Maybe, just maybe, a little extra depth will turn up in the pro zero mode. Anyway, we will know shortly. HH jim tn

Hi Jim,
Its Jim. I contacted Garrett and this was their response to my question on depth increase for the AT Max:

Good day Jim,
Thank you for your interest in Garrett products and for your inquiry as well.
Your answer is yes , the depth increase will be present in all modes on the AT Max.

Best regards,

X2 agree

The deepest coins I ever found with the AT Pro were silver dimes around the 9 inch zone. These dimes didn't come in with ID; the signals were barely audible; buzzes really. This worked well with my philosophy of digging anything deep if the park is old. Eventually though, I really yearned for more depth. If the new AT Max gives one or two more inches of depth, that's a game changer for me and my style of detecting. I love my Deus and I am not giving it up but for the price, the AT Max will certainly become a well used tool in my arsenal.
