Garrett 1500

Hi
I've been using a Garrett 1500 for a few weeks. It's a nice machine but one thing I can't understand is the "sensitivity" setting. Regardless of where it's set, I can't see any difference in operation, either on the table or in the field. Would some one help me understand what this setting is? The operating manual doesn't describe anything about it (that I could find).

thanks heaps!

Bob

First run your sensitivity at 6 or 6.5 for awhile. This control makes the coil more or less sensitive to the target you hope to find. Cranking it up also makes it more sensitive to all the junk in the ground and the mineralization. A lot of folks call it a depth control but actually it ain't. It just seems to be that way at times. You wouldn't notice much if any difference on the table as the coil is detecting through air and has nothing to act and react with. You must have some really mild ground where you are. If you had any mineralization to speak of high sensitivity would cause your detector to become erratic with a lot of falseing.
