G2+ upgrade from a GBP?

Guys I’m just wondering if a new G2+ would be any hotter of a machine than a gold bug pro? I love everything about the machine it’s just lacking a little depth. The additional features and ergonomics of the g2+ are great, but does it have any more gain in depth on the mid and low conductors?

What the Gold bug pro & the g2+ both run at 19 kHz.
I think the G2+ might be a little more versatile.

Yes, I’m aware they share frequency and the extra features that are in the g2+, my question is if there is an actual increase in performance. Like over all gain. Is 99 gain on a GBP the same as 99 on the g2+? Or does the g2+ have a little more spark?

From experience, they have virtually the same results in my testing. I have owned a G2+, Gold Bug Pro and 2 F19s. They could all run at 99 in discrimination mode, and hit 8" coin sized targets, with the same coil. If you are looking for extreme raw depth in discrimination mode you have the wrong detector. In all metal mode I found that the key to more depth was in coil selection. All four had almost the same air test and depth results using the 11x7" stock DD coil, the 10 x 5" elliptical coil and the 5" round coil which were barely deeper than the diameter of the coil. Using a Detech Ultimate coil (13") really changed things and gave all of them the depth (11" plus on coin sized targets) I was looking for and did not have a bad effect on separation, target ID or weight.

So, instead of upgrading (moving sideways in my opinion) to the G2+, I would get a Detech Ultimate coil and see how you like it.

I currently use the cors strike 12x13 as my primary coil. I really only use the gold bug in one site where the emi is off the charts but the finds are all super deep lead and small brass items. Pure sand soil.
Otherwise it’s the T2Se which I do have the ultimate for. I just was really hoping for a hotter 19 kHz machine.
Adding the 12x13 was the best move for the gold bug. It’s got depth right inline with the diameter of the coil. Just as you described with your other coil sizes. A 12-14” minie ball is the absolute fringe. Just a fuzzy repeatable whisper. It’s also a bit hard on the wrist for me on the s-rod shaft setup after a few hours in the woods. Ultimate is far lighter.
