Found rockhounding my landscape

Seems like an odd little find. I cleaned it up a bit do I could get a better idea of what it really looked like. The pointed part of the item had very little rust, almost looked like a different material than the square side which was very heavily oxidized.

Looks like some kind of a switch. I.E. safety switch from a firearm?
