the only place it is broken is what you see in the picture. the broken tip kind of looks like if not broke it was a rounded point.Is it broken any place like near the square end and or tip.? It closely resembles a broken spur. HH jim tn

Yes there was about a mile away as the crow flies. And I found a spencer bullet about 30 yards away a month ago.Pulltab, were there any Cavalry items found in the area where this piece was found? Another idea, and I'm just grabbing at straws here, but could this piece be modified to be a Cavalryman's hoof pick?

Bent and broken stirrupit is about 4.5 inches long.
Hmmit is about 4.5 inches long.
I think this is it.Something like this. This could be of an earlier period.
