have anyone hunted Ft Myers Beach on the gulf Coast of Florida?
If so, what was your experience...shallow water, wet sand, dry sand?

Did best at Fort Myers Beach, several local hunters are on it, so the best finds there are Low tide, out to waist to chin deep. Beach in Cape Corel, small but good for hunting..several coins In the water .Naples is a hour away, money there but the Junklord hunts there, he's out everyday, and leaves nothing in his path.............. Kool place to just stop in is the little Ace Hardware store in CC, they have a nice collection of detecting stuff. Good Luck........Joe

Hey Ken(Toronto)
I think junklord missed a few ( Don't we all). I did pretty good at Lowdermilk beach north of Naples pier the last time around in Feb 2010. Bonita beach is always hunted heavily but you can most of the time manage to scratch something good out of the water there. same thing at Ft. Myers beach.

great info! I'll definitely drop in to see the stuff at Family hardware.
Will be there end of August.
I see on another forum that there are lots of stingrays now at Ft Myers Beach.

I was looking at Marco Island too, there's a beach there ,looks like ....don't know if it's any good?

Ft Myers Beach ( called the landfill by some of us locals who hunt it pretty often) has a lot of can slaw since the dredging of the pass along with the usual trash from the swimmers, boaters & drinkers. There are some good finds to be had but be prepared to dig, dig, dig

Marco is tough, the sand is real coarse and mostly broken shells. Not a lot of fluffy stuff to suck in the goodies. Never tried in the water there though.

Maybe you said something inappropriate or didn't use spell checker or something:detecting:

Ft.Myers beach is a trashy beach ,lots of boats party in the shallow water ,throw cans and pull tabs in the water. Look up Florida webcams and you will see what I am talking about. My last post I did not mean to affened anyone.

Just PM Ron Lord above, Great Guy, he know's all the hot spots on the SW side of florida...but he hunts mostly in the water..he took me on a tour of some great places around Naples, but don't let him take you to the fresh water lake, can't remember the name...but I seen something come out of the water from a distance and it was watching...I think it was a gator or a big snake, he said it was a turtle.................here is some video on ron hunting...good luck ....joe
