Fors CoRe still finding some goodies

A friend and I headed to NV for a week. This time we headed off to areas we have never been. I used the Fors CoRe with 4.7x5.2 coil 95% of the time and the 9.5x5 too. Was a fun trip and great seeing some new scenery.
When it was all done I managed to get a few keepers. As far as coins I got a 1903 Barber dime, 1893 V Nickel, 1901 & 07 IH, and 1916 & 19 Wheaties. My favorite finds were the two trade tokens. Also came across a Chinese camp, as I got 15 Chinese Cash Coins.

Both were maverick tokens but managed to figure out where they originated from. The first was the Victory Bell Good For 25¢. My friend finally found it on token catalog and it came from Detroit, MI. How it ended up in an NV ghost town ?? bet that token could tell a tale or two The other was P and B Bar Good For 12½¢. Looking at the NV Token book it came from a town called Rochester, NV. Was a great time and looking forward to early next month when I'll head to NV again for Monte's 13th WTHO outing in the Wells area.

Naturally, a big Congratulations to OregonGregg for both posting his detecting jaunt results, and for calling attention to one of my two favorite detector & coil combinations for some serious performance in those old-use, Iron-infested, ghost towns. Those two models? The Nokta 15 kHz FORS CoRe w/4.7X5.2 DD we refer to as the 'OOR' or Out-Of-Round coil. The other is the look-alike 19 kHz FORS Relic w/round 5" DD coil.

My Nokta / Makro Simplex + w/5X9½ DD, Tesoro Bandido II µMAX and Silver Sabre µMAX each with round 6" Concentric coils, and Garrett Apex devices with NEL 5" DD or Garrett's 'Ripper' 5X8 DD also handle those sites well, but when the conditions get tough, the Nokta FORS CoRe and FORS Relic are very proven performers.

Trust me, serious ghost ton hunting IS a lot of fun, and it presents a lot of challenges to del with du to the amount and type of ferrous debris you might encounter. And, as OregonGregg mentioned, this is the 13th WTHO we have held since 2015, and thy are open to anyone. I have a very good list of interested people on my WTHO Contact List, and keep names, addresses, phone numbers and contact e-mail information confidential. I send out several e-mails to those on the Contact List as the Outings get closer and share some information related to the locations.

Mater-of-fact, I just e-mailed one off early this morning to folks on the WTHO Contact List that show the names of the current Outing participants, as of this morning, as well as a list of the 1st thru 11th WTHO results so people can read the posts to those initial posts so you can read about their comments, see their finds, and some show the type of country / terrain we get to enjoy. If anyone would like me to e-mail them a copy of the group e-mail I sent out today, just drop me an e-mail to either of my addresses below. OregonGregg has made all but one of the Outings, and several folks on the attendance list have made two or many more of the gatherings. So far we have new, first-time participants for this upcoming Outing from: Alaska, California, Colorado, Indiana, Nevada, and Utah,

Very true .... they were very underrated! The FORS Gold and Gol + were / are great for their special purpose, but the FORS CoRe quickly garbed my attention when it out-performed all of my other Target ID models in early January of 2015. I was so impressed, within 24 hours I started doing a major thinning-out of a lot of detectors. Two T2 Classic's, two F-19's an F75, an M6 and MXT Pro, a 5900 Di Pro, two excess Classic models, an excess Tesoro, MX-5, Omega 8000, two Explorer II's, and maybe four or 5 others

A good 90% of my detecting at the time, and the next five years was dedicated to very challenging, densely ferrous junk contaminated sites, and for me the performance was enhanced a year later, in January of 2016, when I started using the FORS Relic w/5" DD coil. The 19 kHz operation, making use of the Iron Audio Volume, increased the pleasure of hunting and also enhanced the unmasking performance I enjoyed. The Relic then CoRe were my two top-choice models for serious Relic Hunting tasks.

It was a sad day when they discontinued those two model with their FORS series.
