I was wondering since you are a multi-line dealer, when you go relic hunting, what is the first detector you reach for. Mark

Hi Mark,
That depends on where I'm going and what I will be doing. Usually I'm relic hunting, so I'm taking a Minelab Sovereign GT or XTerra 70; Tesoro Vaquero and a water unit; currently the new Detector Pro Pirate. You never know when you'll need a water detector, and no sense in drowning out a high end model when you can get a Pirate for under $300. I like the Minelab Explorer but not the swing weight. If it were lighter, I'd use it a lot more. There are several Tesoro's I favor, but the Vaquero is the main one, although the Tejon has more features. I have other favorites but they are no longer made. Just my personal choice. Good hunting, David@Dixie

Hey Mark I know this is not a question for me but if I may I want to chime in. David mentioned the Minelab Explorer and the weight. I believe I purchased my Minelab SE from him awhile back but anyway, no doubt that is in my opinion the best machine for relics and really best period! I have the tejon and a garrett and a whites. The weight of the ML is not all that bad. When I first switched to it I did notice a difference, but after the 2nd time out I paid it no attention and it is absolutely no big deal at all and for any weight disadvantage it may have the return on your finds are well worth it. I love my machine and once you learn how to use it you would love it too. I can almost tell you what is coming out of the ground before I ever dig. Very good machine and I would not let the weight issue influence my decision "unless of coarse you weight 80lbs" because the machine is far above most of the others. I do like my tejon but it just is not the machine the ML is. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

Oh ya! believe this or not but it is the 100% truth. I seen my buddy did a mini at, at least 18"-20" deep and I am not kidding. Hard to believe but I seen it with my own eyes. He said he had an faint iffy signal as we were fixing to leave and he wanted to dig it. He started digging and dug out about 6-8 inches of dirt and scanned the dirt but no signal, he went over the hole and it was in there. He dug out a little more and still nothing. He just about gave up thinking it was noting but he kept on and finally flipped out a mini. That is the truth! It has not been uncommon for me to dig minis up to 12" Plus on a fairly regular basis. Take it for what it is worth and believe me or not but I have absolutely nothing to gain from lying to you. I almost hate to say it because I know how I roll my eyes and stuff when I read some of the BS people exaggerate and but on the internet but, this is no exaggeration it is 100% FACT!
