For all u V3 folks

I have read the V3 forum & see that most of u have gone from a DFX to the V3. My question is what would it be like jumping from a MXT to the V3? It seems there is a lot more to learn.

I came from the MXT and look I'm a moderator. You can pick a program and immediately start hunting. The more you read and hunt the better you get. Of course we are all different, so no one can really answer the question but you. I loved the MXT but I wouldn't go back.

Bula, i was a MXT user as well, and had a lot of great finds with it. But late in the year i was able to get the v3, i was really happy to see how deep the v3 is. Like any new machine there is a learning curve but its not that difficult and believe me im not the sharpest tool in the shed.I still have my MXT and will never get rid of it, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ONCE YOU GO V3 YOULL NEVER GO BACK. HAPPY HUNTING BRYAN

I didn't come from a MTX, DFX, M6, or any kind of higher end machine, I wish I would have because jumping from a low end Radio Shack detector into a V3 was somewhat overwhelming (and still is).
Without this Forum I would have been lost and I want to say Thank You to all that take the time to respond.
My opinion (for what its worth) is; At least you have had some experience with the fundamentals of a good detector and after reading the manual a couple of times and reviewing the posts here, you should have very little with the transition.

I haven't used the MXT, but I slept at a Holiday Inn Express once..............

What would you want or expect from the V3i that you are not getting now Glen? The MXT is the best turn on and go hunting machine on the market while the V3i is just simply the best, IMHO. The V3i is more in line with a custom built detector to fit your hunting needs and ground conditions and you are doing the customizing. Although the factory loaded programs will get you started right away with great results, it will take a lot of reading and doing to completely understand the V and how to get the best from it to benefit you.

If you like life easy and simple, I might suggest sticking with the MXT but if you are Mr. excitement, like a challenge and want to learn something new, the V3i will keep you busy for some time to come and will reward you well.

As always Larry, I am looking for more depth & a little better discrimination. But I always ask myself is there any deep coins around here any way. I have found a few with the mxt but they were 10" or so, I keep hearing about the whisper signals & dig them but they are always junk & change vdi as I get closer.

Better depth and discrimination as well as many other advantages can certainly be had with the V3i.

The functions of the V3 that sold me to want to spend the money were:
1)3 frequency target analysis for a more positive I.D.
2)3 frequency pinpointing to further assist in target I.D.
3)the ability to audio silence any single or group or mixture of VDI numbers(not descriminate out, but audio silence)

I was also given the opportunity to have an expert V3 operator show me how it worked before I bought it. That person was Magic. A great guy and very good friend!
The other features of the V3 are just icing on the cake. Absolutely love it, no other detector on the market allows this level of variability to the ground and environment.

I did not come from an MXT and dont know very much about it other than it is a very good detector. My background was a progression from the old Eagle Spectrum, then
the XLT, then the DFX.Already having a backgorund with a programmable detector really helped.I would definately pull the trigger on the V3i!

Hope this helps.

Thanks all, now if it would just snow enough so I could make some cash.

Being completely virgin to metal detecting, I have been on the fence between the MXT and the V-3. Definitely sold on the Whites as they are here in Oregon. A big plus. And after reading the forums on Whites and their exemplary customer service, I am sold on them.

Are there any users that are like me that purchased the V3i for their first detector and how was the learning curve?

(A little about me and how I intend to use the Detector: I am very gadgety in nature, love lots of features and variables and have alot of electronic savvy. Most of what I will be doing is prospecting, but my Father-in-Law has the MXT and does alot of relic and coin hunting. My main thing will be searching for good places to prospect gold. The V3 features seem more inclusive of this desire).

Thanks,

Ken

"jumping from a low end Radio Shack detector into a V3 was somewhat overwhelming (and still is)."

lol - at least you made a good jump. I just can't see myself using a Micronta detector.

I don't prospect but once added that the V3i is capable but probably not as a main use/gold box. Was jumped on (and corrected) by some Australians and Arizonans! Are you guys still lurking?
