Foot ware for dry sand beach hunting????

Ray-Mo
At my age even if I got the whole enchilada with those boots it would be far better to have hurting feet. ...Z

Hi Zeekeys, I also have trouble sometimes keeping all the moving parts working, and I've fopund that going for a gentle walk (without the detector) before detecting helps to get things on the right track...lots of suggestions re shoes/boots..I'm sure there's something there for you. When you do get fatigued, take a break or take another short walk to "warm down". Trudging in the sand for hours on end is not only fatiguing, but you are also using muscles and twisting joints in ways they aren't used to, so giving them a break once in a while (when I say "break" I mean "rest") is probably a good idea. Even the fittest sportsmen and women have to give their bodies a rest from time to time. Sounds like you are really enjoying the beach detecting, so pacing yourself will enable you to enjoy it more and longer. HH Sapper.

These are my favorite, so far.

I also use these,

What I like is, there is NO SAND/SHELLS in my booties, no blisters on my feet and no seacreatures mess with my feet either! Most times, they are warm too, even in winter, but then again, we are subtropical here, may not work well fer you yanks out there, LOL!

Here is what I wear and love them so far they are similar to what GH wears just a little cheaper.
Also at the store they were cheaper than what they show on line I think $19.
Water Boots

For those of you who might have an interest in the Seasoft Sunrays, I came across this site:

http://www.offthewallscuba.com/store/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=160

They are clearing out this item so the cost is pretty low. Be sure to call Ken before ordering to make sure they have your size.

I've got mine on order. Thanks for the recommendations.

I wear the Toachi by Teva, I hunt in and out of the water. They have a closed toe in case I need to kick my scoop and drain screens in the soles. Check them out at the following link.

Ok Ok I apologise to all of you that sent me information on the Crocs. I went out and looked at them and thought to myself what a crock of BS when I saw them and felt them. How could these help? I am hurting and they send me information on these things. Wasn't impressed but I did buy a pair.
Now after three days of using the Crocs my legs, knees and feet are just about back to normal. I got out for 4 hours yesterday, everything fine this morning. Almost back to normal.
I am so sorry :surprised: to have doubted such a wise and all knowing group.:please:
I really do appreciate your feed back and I can not thank you enough. :beers:..Z

Glad to hear we all helped with a solution. Being the stingy greedy people we are portrayed to be, we just shouldn't have responded to your post. Less competition...Kidding!! Jim

Although I have the SeaSofts on order, I now will go out and get some crocks based on the reports.

Thanks!

Coolwhips.

It might not be your shoes but your Golden Years instead. I'm getting up there myself and I find that I hurt more now after a few hours on the beach than at any time in the last 30 years. If you find an answer, let me know. Anyone know of a geriatric MDing club?

Update:
Went to Doc's office and he checked my knees, took ex-rays. I am doing fine now.
As far as Croc's go I see they are in financial trouble maybe be gone by the end of year. Will be going to the Croc's outlet store next week to pick up a few different kind of Croc's. Was out yesterday for 3 hours and the day before for 3 hours so building up to my usual longer detecting outings. I am using the Croc's on the sand all the time now. They are really bad in wood chips though. Like walking through picker bushes barefooted.
Tidewalker2 ya, there are no longer 6/8 or more hour hunts and go to the tavern and BS about the days hunt. After a few hours it is home to soak in a hot tub and put my feet up to watch a movie and to bed I go. lol... Another thing I can no longer carry a heavy detector or heavy sand scoop. Getting older is progressive loss and everything goes south and sags. lol But I am still out there and that is all I want to do, be out there and enjoy it as long as I can....Z

Hi Zeekeys,

I am just getting into water hunting.
My friend had let me borrow his Excalibur800 a few years back and I just inherited it recently due to his passing away.

Back in 2005 I tried using different fishing boots but they all wore out due to the stress of pushing on a scoop.
So I have been researching and here are links to some boots I am definitely thinking to order soon.

I cannot seem to find the details on specifications about no metal used in construction or in the sole of the boots.
But I remember finding this somewhere on the page for these boots a few years back.
Guess I will have to email them about the metal issue.

TOO MUCH DIRT, NOT ENUFF TIME!

I have been considering myself an old timer for some time now, but some of you fellows seem to be worse off than I at 68.

Perhaps you would be so kind as to share your age with us as a guide to keep in mind when contemplating the future of our treasure hunting lives.

Many thanks fellow senior hunters!!

CJ

Again thanks for all the replies.
Cupajo I am same age.....68.... After reading your reply yesterday I couldn't answer you because it occurred to me what you said about some of us are worse off than others and thinking about future life in metal detecting. I really had to think about how to answer.
I have never considered myself as old until recently and really didn't see it until your message. Thanks! I have been looking back on my messages and seeing that I have been making myself older than I am. I retired in 2000 and drove a van for the hospital part time bringing patients from their homes to the hospital for treatments for 5 years. Without realising it their mentality became my mentality. They were all sick and many sick for extremely long periods of time. The van service stopped about 3 months ago and it took me that long to see what mind frame I was in. For how long I was in this sick/old/helpless mind frame I don't know? But it slipped in there.
So now it up to me to continue on with the sick/old/helpless mind set or a different mind set?
Again thanks for wake up call and help....Z
