fixed ground balance on the vanquesh

Ive read that the reason theres no auto or manural ground balance is because you don't need it with multi iq. But ive also heard different. can someone explain that to me. Ive been thinking about getting a 440, but I just don't understand why they don't have a ground balance system. the nox has multi IQ but still has auto G.B.

i have a 440 & it works great in my highly mineralised ground here in AZ
i don't miss the ground balance
simple machine finds the goods

I have both a Nox 800 and the Vanquish 540. Honestly, I've never had the need to ground balance either. Even in the Nox manual, it states not to Ground Balance unless it's really noisy. The exception is Gold Mode where Tracking Ground Balance is the default. Directly from the Nox manual: "The default Ground Balance setting of 0 is recommended for Park, Field and Beach Modes because these locations typically have less mineralisation than goldfields."

ok, thanks for the info. ive been watching videos about the vanquish, watched one last night, the fellow was unhappy. first he said the power goes off when you set it down on the ground. well when he showed how it goes off, he dropped the detector. when it was several inches from the ground. an then it wouldn't go off every time. then he said the headphone jack was to close to the handle. the only thing I would like to see would be a 1/4 inch plug instead of 1/8 inch but I could live with that. I'm been looking at different cheaper detectors that or lite weight that I could grab when I didn't want to swing my dfx or mxsport. I would by the 340 in a minute if it had a pinpoint button. I'm getting old, set in my ways. anyway thanks to all for your info.

The ML 540 is a very good detector even without ground balance , I feel the multi IQ aids in its ability to go deep and separate in trash with ease. I to needed a lighter detector and the vanquish is it. No programs to deal with! Plenty to get the job done !!!

I recently bought a Minelab Vanquish 540 and I really like it. I have had zero issues with it not having GB. It goes deep. I can run it on full sensitivity our 1 notch down.

Some or saying the vanquish has auto G.B. but no its called fixed G.B. the company adjust from the circuit board, to handle med. to mild soil. some detectors can be adjusted from a pot. inside but you need to know what your doing. anyway does look really good for the money.

Having sold my equinox 600, I bought a V440 cause I really like the V 10” coil. Although I made some good finds and could say it’s a good machine, I didn’t find it significantly lighter than the Nox and when collapsed it was too big to backpack. Therefore I sold it and wound up getting another Nox 600 with folded carbon fiber shaft and use it with the 11” coil, and a used one to use with the 6” coil on telescoping carbon fiber camera monopole.( and a coiltek 10x5 on order).
All my detectors are made to fit easily in a backpack cause I hunt woods and hike often to seek new homesites.
