I came out of my long winter hibernation and got some hunting in the past few weekends.
All finds are from pounded public sites in North Dakota and some in Minnesota.
Finds were made with my Deus 2 machines and my Minelab Manticore which I purchased over the winter.
Of the finds in this post, the Manticore pulled 5 of the silver, about 3 rings, couple pins, 2 old nickels and the Navy button.
Definitely a great 1-2 punch having both machines.
With my limited number of hours running in all terrain general mostly, here are some initial Manticore thoughts if you want to see:
- Manticore excellent in heavy iron situations. This seems to be its strength. Couple times that it wowed me: The 1936 merc was practically laying on a large, rusted washer. One of the silver rosy dimes was right on a group of large nails.
That dime is completely black on the reverse being next to iron.
- very stable. Seems better in high EMI than D2
- depth gauge seems a little more accurate than D2
- in my setup, the audio is better on my D2
- D2 grabs onto deep coin signals better. Right now, I have more confidence with my D2 on super deep coins and rings
The Manticore is less dramatic when it hits a signal than D2, but I found myself continuing to use it as it keeps pulling old targets
Thanks for looking!
Dave
