Five digit Sterling Silver marking?

Ronstar

Well-known member
I was going thru some junk jewelry finds and remembered getting this little bracelet a year ago or more. I knew the charms were not marked but thought I could see something on the bracelet clasps. Using 20x loupe I could read 925 and then 15 upside down after that.
I’ve never run into this and so far I cant find any info, anyone else run across this?
(I tried to enlarge the area but its telling me the “file is too large”. I was able to still read it by blowing up this photo).

Still no one? Im fairly easy to get stumped but you guys usually pull an answer out! Probably end up taking to a jeweler and paying them to research……..
Stupid hobby 🤷‍♂️

I'm pretty sure that your mark is 925 SI .. which stands for sterling silver.

Isnt it normal tho if not using 925 to stamp STER? I see how you see SI but if you turn photo upside down in more appears 15…… I dont know but thats why I asked!

Do a search for 925 SI and you will see how it is used.

Reads "SI" to me and logic says "no reason to stamp in one direction, then invert and stamp in another".

Well at this point even the jeweler is stumped. The S would be different than a 5 in jewelers world, and that makes sense. Under higher magnification it for all the world appears to be a 5 that is inverted. There still remains the possibility its the makers mark. That, unfortunately would get a bit spendy to have someone with the resources (books) to do the research.

If you turn the photo upside down the 5 now looks like the S and vice versa……..
