It's not just one setting. The setting one should use is the best one for their hunting condition at that moment, and location.
 
Yes, the "Slow" speed is the one to use for more depth......but since that means the number ID is re-setting itself slower & not in 'real time' like we are usted to with these new fishers, then sweeping fast the coil can't process it all.
