It was apparently what the Marketing folks expected to happen. It didn't happen - at least on the schedule that was expected.
The development program which was described is real and ongoing.
What will eventually emerge as product - and when - nobody who says, knows anything - nobody who knows says anything!
Normal product development, it takes darned near forever - pity that the goals got out there before the engineering caught up with it - it happens.
There are probably no more than a dozen or so of folks who can actually design a new metal detector - of those, probably no more than a half dozen could move the state of the art beyond exsisting single frequency VLF detectors, multi-frequency detectors and P i detectors.
