Fisher Gold Bug 2

So I got my new Gold Bug 2 today...bought strictly for detecting gold nuggets. It doesn't sound off nearly as good as my F19 with A Shrew coil does on small nuggets in a glass vial. I expected it to scream on small gold...but barely a tone change...so disappointed.

Total WAG as I,ve never used the GB2. How small are the nuggets? From what I hear the GB2 excels at TINY gold. Could it be that your nuggets are big enough that the F19 does better on them and if they were even smaller the GB2 would do better?

That's strange----the GB2 I had hit REALLY good on small "pickers" in a glass vial---better than the F-19 did---although the F-19 was certainly no slouch.----Check out your Shrew coil with another coil if you have one.----Try the GB2 with the FT 5" coil.

For clarification, are you using the factory coil on the GB2 compared to the F19 with Shrew coil? I think that is how I read it.

I got it working today. Its the stock 6.5 inch coil. The shrew coil on the F19 has found bird shot and many other very small targets.

The GB2 seems to like a little faster swing speed, and sounds off with a nice zip zip. Can't wait to get out and start learning it.
