Fisher GBSE vs GBSE Houston we got a problem!!

Been playing around with my other GBSE final Batch.....

Now either I got hold of a Cabella's model or this ones screwy.....I heard some of the last SE's would be the same as the Pro and if this is the Pro then the GB's of went backward's.

Targte response is no longer VCO disc response...Iron resolution is different sens is down alittle....

First video shows target response audio...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXohVFHRiX0

Second video shows target separation in nails..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bdi8DQauFXs

Not in the same league as my original SE

Let me know which unit's yall have or do I have a 1 off model...

Very odd... Let shed some light on this....

Thanks

Keith

What a nightmare for Fisher. Hopefully they'll learn something by this Gold Bug experience. Great video Keith.

Thank You... FELIX and Fisher.....

I am learning that the newest one I have is the Latest version so??Maybe the gold prospector's will enjoy the more stable all metal mode...

But I still have never had a machine in my life( and I have had a ton) that will jump all over buttons like the original SE does....That's why I wanted a backup....

Keith

Keith my GBSE says special edition on the shaft but it acts the same as your original machine with the VCO type sound and the meter does not clear.
Mine will air test a .69 cal. round ball at 11.5" in disc O, Sens 100 and seperate common nails around disc.13.

I don't think that it was a surprise to anyone that the final version was going to be the "Pro". It's been mentioned here on the forum by Fisher personal for some time.

I do believe you will find that a lot of changes were going on with the development of the Gold Bug. Gold Bug, Gold Bug SE. They did listen to the users, and some of them here on the forum supplied them with very useful input. The end result was the "Gold Bug Pro".

Keith, I found your video interesting, but it's being done on no longer produced detectors. Perhaps a accurate assessment would be of your early one, and a new released Pro model. Not that it would change anything, but it would give a better idea.

Mr. Bill

To all that need to know.
Yes I have a vested interest in the Gold Bug. I am a Fisher dealer.

Well, I have the one like Keith's that does not have any logo on the shaft and it is a killer machine. "Spanky" will stay in my arsenal for a long time.....

No, that is not what I meant. He's not testing a "Pro" model, and no they didn't change in the middle of SE production. It's noticeable on Kieth's video that there is a problem with it, just watching him set the disc. up higher than usual is a good start. :)

Mr. Bill

Then we can say that all GB SE should be the same as Keiths original one.

That makes me confident that the one i receive Tuesday or Wednesday is an original SE...

Hmm. don't know if I can go that far. Keith's original one was one of the first GB's they made. He had to return it for calibration, and they did a few other things to it. They, (Fisher), have been progressively making changes to the GB, up to the release of the GB Pro.

With that said, Would I be worried about having a earlier unit than the Pro, no. I found that they all worked quite well, in fact I tried to get a batch of the last SE's included with my Pro order. Sorry to say, too late. He who snoozes, looses. My mistake. :(

Enjoy your SE.

Have a nice day. :)

Mr. Bill

My gold bug se with the logo on the handle has the modulated vco audio. Your new one does not have this audio. The audio is non modulated like the Cabelas. Cabelas sold out of all theirs and were excepting back orders. Maybe you got one of those?????????

OK Bill...

When I get mine I will report back, I ordered it with both coils and due to the many reviews on the forums.

That Video Keith did with his original SE is showing a detector that suit European conditions like a hand in a glove.

Infact, some places the iron targets are more in number then in his boards and the coins are smaller and thinner.... and hits in the foil region.

I hope Dave J knows that we like what we see in the SE performance in Iron.

I prefer "Local Expert" to the loosely thrown... around... term... Dealer....:drinking:...
And yes it was a sweet deal while it lasted .....Thank You Fisher ! ! ! !

Thanks for the videos, Keith, very interesting. My GB SE is one of the original silver deaf ones. I like the VCO on it and the sensitivity. Don't think I'll send it in for an adjustment, perhaps it will be more tuned to gold that way? What do you guys think? There is a better silver hunter I use in my arsenal anyway.
The GB SE was purchased for gold and jewelry hunting explicitly.
Dave J. said the hardest part of designing a machine, is the public psychology. Myself I want the machine the way Dave designed it and not the public. First Texas seems to be relenting to the critics. My faith is with Dave's original, the SE VCO may be the better rig as you have illustrated Keith. Thanks.

So I must have a :stretcher: sick one?

He did state that his was VCO Disc but the target did clear after 4 second's..But he said he thought from the video the Original I had seemed a little hotter but his disced nails at 13 like the original so...Sounds like maybe there's nothing wrong with the Pro's?

I can understand slight differences in depth performance from one to another but not a total different machine like I have seen... So I must have an Experimental:wacko:

I have a GBse...I sent it in end of July for the silver issue, when I recieved it back a few weeks later, the upper shaft had the "Special Edition" stamped on it, (as well as a new hat")...it works the same as far as the VCO goes...everything else seems to work as advertised (only better than when I sent it in). Im not sure what they did, Im like you I like the SE.

My big ole head is just heck on hats and they Do get dirty Fast with my ole Fingers in everything........
