fisher f2 vs f4

There is a noticeable difference between the two in every category, If you have the extra $$$ I would recommend going with the F4.

Mr.Bill

the only difference is the ground balance
If your ground is ok save your dosh and go for the F2 3 coil package
and stipulate the new screw on connector type this is the new version
they are both built on exactly the same CCT board

i have a friend that has them both and he says the F 4 is superior in all cat., as Mr. Bill states. The F 4 is always the one between the two that my friend will go to. HH jim tn

don't forget the f4 also gives you all metal mode.. this is the big difference.. the more I detect the more I use it. We have both the f4 and f2.. once you know the detector the f4 in all metal is less likely to miss a target.

The F4 is much better for it's price, I still have mine along with the F5 too, both do a grand job. Is the F5 worth it's $$$ ? YOU BET IT IS, as is the F4 over the F2.

Take them apart and you will see they are the same apart from a handfull of components.
the F4 is only a ground balancing F2.
IMHOO and after taking a F2 apart

I have used a garrett 250, and its basically the same hardware setup as the 250, the thing I didnt like was rods did not having a locking mechanism which gave them a lot of play when swinging the coil, the software and features are basically the same as the 250. For the money I would get a used higher end model like a Fisher CZ, whites XT, these will give you better depth, display, and features.

Also remember that the f4 has the 11" DD coil those sell for 130 or so while the 10" round is less than half that.

So you get true auto-tune all metal
Manual Ground balance
and a much more expensive (and productive) coil with the f4.

I would say yes... having the all metal plus tonal is like have two detectors in one.. it extends it usefulness quite a bit.
