Did a trade deal for a Cz5, been checking them out for a while so I am looking forward to getting it, it will be a while before i can actually go out and swing it once I receive it but it will be fun once i can get out and swing it just another toy to learn and have fun with

The Cz5 is an excellent analog detector !! Very simple to set up . virtually immune to EMI . Very deep . The only negative i have with it is it a little heavy. It made me become Ambidextrous. Just run Zero disc . You have low , medium and high tones. The volume control will allow you to have modulated audio if you like. Volume below 5 - modulated. above all targets sounds off louder. I still have a Cz3D in my arsenal. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Oh I think I will have many questions once I start swinging it so I appreciate the offer for assistance

Couldn’t agree more with Tony. Deep rusty nails do ring up as good targets. Years ago someone explained a way to ID them so you wouldn’t waste time. I don’t remember it because I had sold mine before reading it. Maybe someone knows or you can find it in a searc. That is my brother’s only complaint about his CZ5.

The way i would unmask iron or co- located targets was with the pinpoint button. During pinpointing, the target should be small . usually with iron i would get an elongated signal meaning iron. Also during pinpointing if you got two close small blips i would dig lots of deep silver with iron very close . You have to work the target a bit . I rarely ever dug Iron with my Cz . There is also a method in the cz manual on how to deal with rusty iron, that may help . 😃

Sweep speed is also important. A slow sweep in discriminate mode, listening to all tones, can help get a low to high tone bounce where a quicker sweep just gets the high tone.

exactly right, If you can slow down and work the target , a repeatable signal is what you want. sometimes the questionable signals hold good targets. Yes the meter starts jumping back and forth is another indicator to slow down and work the target. All in all the Audio to me is king !!!! smoother audio with a cz tends to be good targets. cracking and popping is a dead giveaway. Trash!!! I do have 23 years of experience with the cz series detectors . so it is easy for me to say that i rarely dug rusty iron nails and digging thousands of targets educated on what was worth digging and what not to waste my time on. I love this hobby and love talking MD ing . I like helping CZ users any help i can. All that being said, I have got about 3 years with the D2 Ws6 under my belt. And say it is an extremely good detector. I feel that i have the best analog detector Cz3D 1021, and best digital detector D2 Ws6 ( for me).

I had a cz5 also, tho it was many, many moons ago.. If I remenber correctly I went from a whites silver eagle to the cz5.. Yes, my deep finds did increase substantially, but as was already mentioned I got pretty discussed digging deep iron sounding like good silver hits. Pulling a rusted iron washer at 10 inches you do get a little p-o'd.. I liked it, but moved on to something better of the time period.

That will not be hard for me I have always used a slow and methodical sweep speed

I believe that is why some detectors fit my detecting style better than others, Like the Legend for instance likes a faster sweep speed than I am comfortable doing so it just did not work good for me.

I cannot tell you why but ever since I switched over to using these beep and digs my trash finds has decreased significantly, I am hoping that remains the same with the Cz5, I will not know until I have it in my hands if that remains the case but it has been that way with my Tesoros,Golden mask, Deep Tech and my Troy Shadow X5, the beep and digs just seem to suit my detecting style much better, and yes I still consider the Cz5 to be a beep and Dig

Also @MuddyMo or anyone else that has swung a Cz5, I do have a question I scrub the coil on the ground when I am detecting, which the Legend also did not like, it liked a air gap, which does the Cz5 like ???

does the Cz5 like the coil as close to the ground as you can get it, or does it prefer a air gap while sweeping the coil, or is the Cz5 ok either way ???

CZ5 is OK either way.

I would say no air gap for me . I tend to be as close to the ground as possible. touching the grass or dirt through out the swing. and definitely on the ground while working a suspect, target.

On all the detectors I use I brush the grass. Seldom ever touch the dirt and could go without a coil cover. When I started I never seen one.

oldkoot...I have a few WORD documents I put together over the years of articles and posts on CZ tips. If you want I can e-mail it to you.

Just send me your e-mail address via PM.
