Fisher Customer Service

The update is simply a software update. I'm not certain exactly how many went out, but I can guarantee that it was very, very few. As soon as we knew we needed to do the update, we made sure to stop all shipments and re-route other shipments back to us. Yes, it was that quick of a find and fix.

It is very unfortunate that many of the manuals still are not on our website, but I will be honest with you, we kind of got the short end of the stick with our web designer, so we are using as much of our efforts as we can to slowly, yet surely, get our website updated and up to par. If you ever need a manual, just email me in the mean-time, and I can send you a file you can download. My email, again, is

service-fisherlab@fisherlab.com

We are just as unnerved about the website as many of our customers and fans are, nonetheless, we have to sit tight as well and get it completed with updated material while not shutting the site down.

It's not so much that I'm late into any game. I'm still somewhat of a new addition to the Fisher company. New or old, I just decided to be the one to be proactive and involved direct from the source. ;)

hmmmm!..ok!....thanks for the response!

Well first welcome and it takes a big man to let us have a go at you. My question would be are you going to have more coils for the F75 and the F5 I have both and am happy with the F75 but need a DD for the F5?

Howdy _ I've recently gotten back into using my detector with the purchase of an F2. It's a very good turn on and go machine, but now I need something a little more sophisticated. I settled on the F5 as it uses the same connectors for the coils and maybe I'll be able touse my F2 coils on the F5. I know they work on the F4. I buy my stuff from American Detectors in North Richland Hills, TX. Over two weeks ago he called the Fisher folks to ask about using the coils. They said they didn't know and that we would have to hook up our coils and see if they would work. He then went on the say that the F5's had been shipped.

This turned out to be an untruth - perhaps he misspoke. He, when he learned a customer was in the office, said they had been shipped. Four days later American Detector's got and email that seemed to indicate the same thing. They must have shipped them by Mule Train.

Two things about that day's experience bother me.
1. Someone who should know was unable to provide a technical answer and made to effort to do so and then get back to us.
2. With a paying customer listening this person lied when he said the units ordered had been shipped. It's been more than 10 days.

Questions- Will the coils from the F2 work on the F5? Have you shipped the F5 units to American Detectors 76180 ? I would prefer to buy from them rather than some out of state "LARGE IMPERSONAL" dealer. I'm really getting tired of waiting for the unit I want to arrive and am thinking very seriously about going to TESERO for my new unit.

Now is your chance to talk me out of it by making some straight-forward answers:

Hello and Welcome..

1st Question: I have a CZ-20 with the 10" coil and would like to know if it is possible for me to buy the 8" and change it out myself or is this something I would have to send it in for?
2nd Question: Do you recommend using silicone sprays on these machines. I have heard that some guys spray it all over their detectors. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Thank you,
Robert

I can't say anything about how good or not Fisher/First Texas is on their service, since I have never had to send a detector to them for repairs, etc. But just the other day I sent them a email asking them if they had & could send me a downloadable manual for a Fisher 1265 (I have one on its way to me), checked my email later on in the day and their was the manual they send me. I was very pleased with how prompt they were. Thanks Fisher/First Texas support. Steve.

BTW Yes their new line of detectors might be a little cheaper quality made than their older machines were but without trying to start a war I will say that the F2 is a much better detector than the Ace 250 & that is saying alot. I have had two F2's and two Ace 250's I will take the F2 any day, very good detector for $199.00

Thank you :) Hope it doesn't make a difference that I'm a wo-man. :p I can't share too much on what is in the works, but I can reassure you that enough requests for new production can hit an actual production, if you catch my drift. ;)

This is honestly something you should not have dealt with. I'm not sure who you spoke to, but I am sure that it couldn't have been a technician. If you can't get an answer, then I will get one for you when I go into work tomorrow. As for delivery of the F5s to our dealers, that's something that would need to be taken up with orders management. They know what gets ordered and shipped. I can get that answer to if you'd much rather just deal direct with me. But that will have to wait till I get into work tomorrow as well. No worries! :)

Hello!

1. If your unit is under warranty, we do not advise you to change the coil yourself. This will definitely void the warranty. If the unit is not under warranty, and if you feel that you have the knowledge to make the change out, you're more than welcome to. Just give me a call for pricing and such. 1-800-685-5050 ext. 152 Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm Mountain time.

2. Silicone and a type of rtv is already used on these units. I'm not the one to suggest a definite answer to use the spray, but I wouldn't think spraying it all over the machine would be necessary. If anything, give our techs a call for a more definite answer.
