First Silver

Found my first silver,a merc, with the V3 yesterday. Was about 7" deep and I was finding clad about as deep as the merc.I think the only thing that kept the merc from going deeper was the tree roots it was on top of.Gotta love those trees.

BH First Merc WTG Man, 22 Years ago I found my First Merc with the Eagle the Blue Box one,
Its a good feeling aint it???? Mickfin

mickfin, yes, seeing that dime come out of the dirt just made my week.It also gave me confidence that areas that have been hunted hard can still produce some good finds.
Jeff, we'll work on that nugget!

WTG...Nice find!

Earl

Congrats:clapping:

Nice, did you use the analyze screen my first merc I knew it as soon as I hit the trigger. How did yours hit if you used it?

Sarah

Sarah, to tell you the truth,I really wasnt expecting it.I got to the school with my son,got out of the car with the V3,walked into the grass in front of the school, fired up the V3 in modified coin mode and started swinging slowly towards a tree about five feet away. When I got about two feet from the tree,I got a hit with the penny-dime icons with the VDI ranging between 77-80.I honestly couldnt tell a difference in the tone, but after 25 yrs around heavy equip. I'm a bit hearing challenged anyway.I didnt even think to switch to the analyze screen.I've ordered some DetectorPro Black Widows to replace the cheapies Ive been using,I hope they help me somewhat with differenciating the tones a little better.I went to our local courthouse last night and thought I had another silver coin after digging 7" to retrieve it,but it wasnt to be.Who'd have thought a 1990 dime could get that deep,my only guess is that some fill dirt was put in at some time.

Thanks jgedde, its a 1926,not sure on the mint mark.
Elton,I didnt look at the analyze screen, but when I air tested them the merc gave a pronounced higher 2.5 (green) hump than a clad dime, which at times gave an even hump on the 2.5 &7.5 and other times gave a slightly higher 7.5 hump. With my limited experience,I just diggem all.

Way to go girl. You will never miss a nice find if you "dig it all". Lots more trash but............the reward can be several very nice coins, relics, rings, etc.

 I think the Capt'n has been sleep typing again. That was posted at 3AM. :sleepy:
