We (my son and myself) just started metal detecting little over a month ago. Pulled our first silver out. 1906 Barber Dime!! Decent shape. We had some time between ballgames so we went out to our field. Good times

Just told my son the same thing!! Been finding a bunch of lead bullets and other junk but this was first coinage

Congrats, Took me 5+ years to find my first Barber and nowhere near that that much relief. Nice find. Congrats.

Congratulations on a great milestone!

Wow ... your first Silver was a Barber - very cool - congrats ! :clapping:

That’s a nice one my first year detecting I found two barbers in the same hole my first barbers to

I was amazed on how good the condition of coin was!!! Still can read Liberty on the head band portion of the coin!!

Nice high grade! Beauty ! Congrats!

Kinda of off topic a little but it is a good practice to clean silver or leave them? I don’t want to mess it up

I would not do any cleaning on that coin as it does have some collecting value. Cleaning decreases the value to collectors.

those with only the value of the silver and no or very little value to collectors can be cleaned. My first barber was a 1907 in not very good condition and it was black from being in the water for years. I left it as found just because i liked it that way Same with my barber dime. Only two barbers i have ever found.

That is a super great start in entering the hobby. Congratulations.

I have been hunting that same field off and on and found a 1926 Mercury Dime today ...I am going to keep pounding that field. There should be more. About 8 inches down and it was a scratchy signal.

Nice silver coin:thumbup:

Nice finds my first great silver find was two barber dime spill!

Congrats...

First silver should make you a great memory.
My wife is still waiting on her first silver coin...I hope to be there to see her face when it happens.

Glad you and your son can share detecting.
