First Season W/ BH Pioneer 505

That "3 merry widows" condom tin is awesome! What a great name. I picked up an old "Koin Pack" tin the other day, pat. date 1935, but I think yours is older. You've had an awesome year, congrats!!

Thank you for posting. I just got into metal detecting world and also got a 505. Reading you post and looking at what you got with the same detector I got lets me know I made the right choice.

Hello Black651,
I saw your comment about your 505, so I'm dropping you a line to ask a question about your settings. I just got a 505 and I'm new to metal detecting. I was wondering what your typical setting is for coin hunting in the parks. Mine has alot of false tones. The manual and a sticker says to dial back the sensitivity. It seems I have to dial back to almost the lowest setting to get it to stop the random signal tones. I've been running it in Disc at half way to eliminate the iron. If I move real slow and I mean slow, I can keep the sensitivity at 2 o'clock position as the video recommended. However, if I swing at a consistent sweep I get the intermediate false tones/beeps. Additionally, I have the stock 8" coil and I've been searching the parks in Coeur d'Alene, ID. It maybe the minerals in the area, but at this time I'm not able to take it anywhere else to try it. I thought it might be a common thing with the 505, because they put a sticker instruction on the machine to lower the sensitivity for false signals.

If you have a moment to reply and tell me how your MD is that would be great. I'd appreciate any advice on the unit.
Thank you, Ski

Awesome finds for sure :detecting: Keep up the great work and happy hunting!!

man i just traded my 505 for a classic. i can buy another 505 but the classic is harder to come by. the new owner was impressed with the 505 on freshwater beach, so we traded. i will not name the classic on this forum out of respect for the 505. i have the classic up and running with minor repair. i was getting the hang of the 505, brief learning curve. bang for the buck. he could not work the classic. i learned on that brand, and the machine used to belong to friend who sold it and regretted it. 505 is simple which to me, is better.
