First old big silver for this year!

I went back to where a old school once stood and I had found only one other silver coin there last visit.
It was a 1823 capped bust so I was determined to find more so I decided to hunt the edges very slowly I was getting some clad and a few wheats.
Then I had a great dime signal on my Nox when I flipped the plug over I saw the small sterling ring!
I was happy with that then about 30 feet away I had what I call a slight high tone barely a squeak I was in field 2 recovery at 6 so I was not going to not dig it well the signal was in the middle at the bottom of the hole so I took a big scoop out dumped it and saw a big silver edge!!!
I was thinking Barber of a seated as it was easily 8” down right in the middle of a old path that cut through a old stonewall!
When I flipped it over it was a 1917! I have never dug any walkers old than the 30’s so this second year was a cool find also dug the old flat button near the walker the lone buffalo came from another park and so did the bullets 19 wheat cents
Also and about $4.50 in clad ..
I always do concentrate along the edges at out schools and parks and it pays off I’ve found a lot of nice silvers along the edges !!!

Mark, beautiful old half. Most don't have a clear date. How does field 2 work around loads of modern trash? Also, is recovery 6 your standard setting? Great finds!

To be honest with is it Rich? I use field 2 all the time 95% and the beach modes I don’t use park at all lol and I hunt with no discrimination..

I like your technique as well Mark, to many people run to the middle its amazing to watch. It brings new meaning to silver on edge LOL

Nice hunt! Love seeing those big silvers in the dirt. Productive hunt for sure.

I've always found the edges to be productive as well. I had a hunting buddy that passed early last year. He had the habit of turning on his detector and walking out away from the vehicle several yards to locate a clean spot for ground balancing. One day about a foot away from the car in his tracks I recovered a Peace dollar at about 4". He pretty abruptly became a edge hunter, too.

You have some good spots it appears along with the expertise to take advantage of them. HH Jim tn
