First hunt with my new CTX and accomplished two of my lifetime detecting goals!!!

Yes, my first name is Marc.

I figured you knew about not messing with the coin but I just thought I would mention it anyway.

I really hop that "S" is there and doesn't just look that way!

Keep us posted. I am just gearing up for my hunting season after a LONG winter being cooped up inside here in MN. I am looking forward to a lot of gear testing/reviews this summer.

HH -Marc

Outstanding! And on the maiden voyage, no less. Congratulations on two finds (in one day) that you will never forget, no matter how long you detect. HH Randy

If you look where the "s" normally sits on the penny, the "s" from the enhanced photo wouldn't make sense. They are not that big nor that close to the 1909. Never know though!

Could be! Do you think the "s" could be that long though?

I dont know. I really need to take it to a coin shop I suppose. I am gonna try to get to one in the next couple weeks. The closest is about 30 minute drive and with work and taking my twins to basketball and baseball throughout the week it doesnt leave alot of time. ZThe only way I will get a definitive either way is to have it looked at. its pretty bad in that area and I really do think I could actually just rub it off the coin which I definately dont want to do...wht got me really excited about it in marcs photo isat the top end it looks like it has the vertical drop which would seem like it would have to be a big coincidence to be there if the curve was just something on the coin..

thanks sc! I wish I had never had to sell you the first one I had but the circumstances at the time kinda forced my hand. I am glad it has done you well. This new one I hope to keep and learn with. it worked out good for you though as you ended up with a still pretty much new machine at a great price. I never even got to use it enough to really learn it...

Well keep the fingers crossed man! Certainly an exciting find either way.

I agree somewhat with you Nolan, the "S" does not look quite right but I hope for BB it is there. I was only able to work with one image so take the results with a grain of salt. Also, the image was taken at an angle, so scale and placement will be affected. I have had it happen many times where you "see" something that looks correct under the crud, only to find out that it was just cruel crud.

Keep us posted! HH -Marc
