First Hunt in about a year at the beach.

TRIPLE-SSS

Well-known member
Decided to take a trip down to the gulf south of Houston, have not been there for a while. The trip that would take me about 2.5 hours both ways turned out to be about 4.5 hours, 2 car accidents going down and a stalled vehicle plus 2 more wrecks coming back. The beach was really sanded over bad and we have had quite a bit of rain in the last month or so. I did manage to pull some coins and a lot of junk that I didn’t post. I used my AT-pro, love that detector, screams out at you with every find, and helps to identify the iron with that grunt sound. Did find one ring that was bent, tried to fo unbend and it cracked, junk ring anyhow. Body is kind of soar after not detecting for a while. That’s what happens to you when you hit 70. Have been mainly detecting at the beach and planning to do some dry dirt detecting in my surrounding area to see what I can find.
Everyone have a good New Year and good luck on your Hunts.

Well at 76 the E-Trac is getting heaver and I am starting to favor the lighter Equinox machines for the beach.
But Im still kicking sand and sifting scoops and hope to be for a few more years.
If you ever feel the need to get away for a while come on down to Corpus Christi Texas.
Got a spare room you can stay in and I'll show you all my favorite beach spots and you can try my detectors.
Got one spot here in front of a condo on Mustang island that will drive your AT-pro crazy.
Just south of the Packery channel jetties.
The E-Trac can handle that beach but the AT-pro (and other single freq detectors) has problems.
Dont know exactly why but I think it has a lot of iron bits in the sand
Ya did good on your beach hunt.
