Way too late for that, Artie. Once you've brought home the gold..... Congratulations on your second find. Diamonds or not? Either way, now you know you can do it. Isn't the AT Pro a great machine? If you can do it, anyone can.

WTG Artman...2 gold rings back to back...You gotta love it!!!I used to think only women lost rings, that's all I ever seemed to find. They do wear more of them....Took 6 years to find a men's that fit me!!
Keep at it your on a roll!!!

WTG Artie. I may have to start digging those 40's. I found a 14K wedding band on a sports field last year and it came in the same as a beaver tail - about 62.
All of the 40's I've dug on this field have been foil so I stopped diggin'em.
Oh well, I guess that's why there's no such thing as a hunted-out site.

Wow, they're both beauties, too! Congrats, hope they just keep on coming!

That's awesome Artman! Congrats on two great rings!

Had to log back in to see what all the hub-bubbery was about on Arties gold ring..Oh, He got ANOTHER! Sweet!

Hi Togamac, I know what you mean about the 40's. The round foil covers on the cream from the coffee shops comes in at a solid 43, I've dug plenty of them at this field, to the point I don't always dig up a 43 anymore. Foil wrapping usually comes in 41-49, but flickers around on the VDI scale a lot. And I'm not good enough with my hearing or the English language to properly put this into words, but the only way I can describe the sound is pure. I swung the coil and the sound hit, and my brain went "Whoa, back up now!" It's the standard pro mode middle range tone, but the sound was different enough, somehow to jump out at me. I think they're diamonds, don't know how to test for that, they're small enough I don't think they'd cost that much to be real. One of the guys on our condo board is a dispatcher for the town, so I'm gonna ask him if there is a town version of a lost and found, or log where lost items would be reported. If I can't find a way to determine who lost it, then I might think about having a jeweler look at it. I am loving the Pro, it seems to be technologically good enough to do what I want, and tell me what I want to know, without overloading me with a lot of info that doesn't help me. With the 8X5 DD coil, I can swing it all day and no pain. I did notice when I took the headphone cable out of its socket on Sunday, the built in speaker was just barely audible. I did this to demonstrate the machine to my wifes uncle when he showed up, afterwards I put the headphone cable back into the unit, and they worked fine. I think someone else had this problem on this Forum. Thank you everyone for the kind words, I am now pretty motivated to get all the time I can, MD'ing, we'll see how the Missus handles that. Artie

WOW! That is a nice ring. Bet the wife will encourage you to go more often now, with dibs on those nice ones, in advance.

What tone was that? I've been at it with the ATP a few more months than you but haven't found gold yet, lots of silver though.

Both of the rings had a sweet pure sound to them in the mid tone range. I have not found any silver yet with the Pro, but hear silver has the same sweet pure sound, only in the high tone range. I love the Pro, it doesn't require me to think too much, just listen and react. Firstring (member here) told me early on to dig all the good tones in the 40's, that's where the ladies gold rings are, and he was right, at least in my experiences. I am crediting finding the rings to changing my hunting venues, as much as the detector change. 21 years, no real jewelry, was a long time, and I'm humble enough to know that it can go back to those levels pretty quickly if I don't want to put the work in. Artie

Man o man, wish I could do a twosome that close togeather, mine seems to run one every 2yrs or so....congrats brother, find more....

Once you hit gold the first time, it gets better and better. I went nearly 5 years without hitting any gold or silver jewelry, but got quite a few good rings last November & December. I haven't found any gold rings this year or at least I haven't had one I found tested, but I've found several sterling silver rings. One other thing that hits at 43-45 in my area is those darn little 22 brass rounds. I go by the tone when I'm in the water and I always get a good tone with jewelry and nickels. Congratulations & HH, Artie.

All the silver rings I have found have been a high tone with a solid vdi in the 89 to 93 range. It sounds solid and is a rare enough vdi that I always dig it. I hope I can find gold, but I think I am passing it up like I did nickles. Nickles are a high tone on my ACE 350, so when they came in as a mid tone on the ATP I passed them over. When my buddy kept diffing nickles from where I had been I ran my coil over one and discovered the mistake. I went back and dug several from where I had hunted before and have gotten many since. Although they still seem to be rarer than other coins.

Anyway, keep finding them, and make the wife happy.
