First Gold Ring

Made it out to the beach today and scored 80 something cents, an old Schlitz can top, and a 14k gold ring. Not sure if it is worth anything but still fun to find. The 250 read it as a nickle with a solid signal.

Of course it's worth something. It's almost 60 percent gold and gold is almost $1200 and ounce. I think every treasure hunter should own a small digital scale to weigh rings. You can buy one for around 15 bucks.

Hoping it's the first of many for you. It's a very nice ring!

So I took the ring in to a gold buying store and he said it was worth about $40 in gold and that he would give me $30. Does that sound about right for a small ring? Are there some gold buyers that pay more than others?

Yeah I thought about keeping it for sentimental value seeing as it was my first ring... I would definitely keep it if were my 15th ring! Maybe the 15 symbolizes how many weeks I have been metal detecting? I got my ACE in March or April, I'll have to do the math and see. That would be cool.
