First Equinox Gold of 2024

First post, I have detected on and off (mostly off) for 25 years. I took a long break (almost 9 years) after we had kids.

I got the itch in December and purchased an equinox 800. I've been pretty impressed with the 800 so far, but if I'm being completely honest, I wish I had been a little more patient and gone with a used Deus II or Manticore (but when I was shopping that was more than I wanted to pay). I may go that route and keep the 800 as a backup?

Nonetheless, I have been enjoying myself the last two and a half months. I leave near the beach a lot of my hunting is on the sand in the dark. It has not been red hot, but I am slowing learning the machine. The photos are of a 14K engagement ring I found recently at a local beach. I am looking forward to the summer when I can get out in the shallow water. I am sorry for the low quality of the pictures; I was not intending to post them. Best, Shawn

Nothing wrong with those photos.. that is a very nice ring!!
Many have moved on to other detectors, but I am still using my 800 and am very happy with it.
You made a great find and I am sure that find alone is worth more that what you paid for that detector.

Welcome nice find ! and the 800 is no slouch one of my best machines I had I have the Manticore and the D2 now both hood machines did well this past week with mostly the manticore

Nothing wrong with the finds or the detector in my opinion! I have found a lot of nice goodies with my 800. I have moved on to the Manticore and really starting to gel with it. The WM9 is a must in my opinion.

That's a fantastic ring. If you give it a little more time and really learn the Nox, you might not need/want to upgrade. The 800 is a fine machine.

Nice ring! I have an Equinox 600 and bought a new 900. The 900 has a few more bells and whistles plus a new machine warranty. I have hunted private property with the 900 that I have hunted with the 600 and the 900 has not found very many coins that the 600 left behind!

I can see why you would be disappointed with the Equinox 800 for finding you a gorgeous diamond ring, and it took so long; 3 months!
Take the machine back and demand your money back!
Your wife will be / is disappointed in you.
No wonder you feel so bad.

But a really nice looking ring, even blurred.
