I will start off with a big thanks to Elmy,
So Elmy and I started talking about patterns, sound settings and sensitivity, he was sending different things to try and I wasn't able to hunt so I done the testing in the yard. So that has been going since some time in March.
So about a week ago I was able to go to the park that has been hunted to death by me and hundreds of others. I only had about 3 hours so I skipped around started hunting down in a play are and came up with the clad quarter and dime no big deal there. Then I move to the hillside that has given up some nice silver in the past but nothing for several years now. So the first target was the wheat penny, nice surprise. Then a short time later I get a scratchy high tone and was having trouble locating it with the trash in the area. But I was able to find it on the edge of the plug hole and out came the silver ring that has been hunted over countless times.
Now I went back yesterday for about a 6 hour hunt, nothing but a few junk targets for the first half. I was taking a break at the truck and my brother pulls up all ready to go hunting. So off we went to that same hill side where I found the silver ring. I had been running manual sensitivity around 20 up 24 all morning so I remembered Elmy telling me about running Auto +3 so I switch to that and started hunting, only went 10 or 15 feet and got a good signal so I put a marker flag down. Well I looked up and here comes my brother wanting check the target with his F5 he said he didn't think it was coin. The detector was saying about 9" so I took a large plug and went down close to 9" and the PP wasn't picking up anything. My brother checked the back side of the hole with the PP and got a hit, he took a small digger and out came a wheat penny on edge at 6" deep. Hunted around that area and nothing more came up.
We moved maybe 30yds down the hill side and I made a few swings and got another signal about the same as that penny and the detector was again saying 9" deep. I went for the marker flag and here comes brother with the F5, he took a few swings over it and said he liked this one and he checked the depth and his machine said 9". So again took a large plug and nothing in the bottom of the hole or the plug, so he checked the back edge it was a rerun of the penny. He shaves the back side of the hole and out comes the Barber on edge at 6".
