Summertime and the digging aint easy especially in the south. So I thought I would post some crazy finds of late from the might Deus. Forgive me if posted twice My pc skills are a work in progress. I was digging in an old park when I found this silver quarter. My first idea was that it had been made into a necklace because of the band but no hole. A coin dealer told me it could have been a mistrike but didnt have one on record for that year. A few months later I was talking to a friend and happened to mention it and he asked me where I found it and the exact location in the park. Turns out he was making a necklace out of it 30 years ago when his son took it w/o permission and lost it on a BS camping trip. They even went and looked for it. Crazy huh. I was doing an old site where houses had been pulled down w/o much luck because of the overlay when I got a good signal close to my car before leaving. Its a very large Chinese jan from the Republic of China circa 1920. Was doing another old park which had also been a CSA campsite. Got a very deep signal. Got this long bullet which I knew had to be from the war but no idea what it was. Did some research and found it and even took measurements. I said crap this looks like arare Whitworth bullet which was from a Confederate sniper rifle. A buddy who is a bullet guru confirmed it. I didnt thing there were any in our area. But he confirmed there was a company there with them. Not much interested in worth but he said it could pay for the machine to the right person. The fired round ball and buckle were found close by. I live in an old house. Had just about cleaned it out with the CTX but I knew there were still a couple of nail beds. Got a faint good signal from one of them so started digging. I had dug out 8 rusty nails when I pulled out this 1900V nickel. The Deus rocks in iron! Best pt 013.JPG012.JPG123.JPG789.JPG456.JPG

I have found that same Chinese coin. They are somewhat valuable from what I have saw in a coin book once. Of course I guess it would depend on condition.

Cool quarter story though!!!

Sometimes the unique with a recovered backstory is far more attractive than a pristine coin!

I would say your quarter is a Dryer Quarter.
Coins would get lost in coin laundry dryers and get stuck down in the side of the drum and get turned and flatten on the rims as it tumbled.
I used to find them cleaning the lint traps.
Looked just like yours.
