finds for the week....

Found this coin right outside where I live about 6 inches deep.
Anyone have any history for it?

Also found a small crucifix[attachment 29250 1944coin.jpg][attachment 29251 cross-cleaned1.jpg]
 
The United states mint produced, shipped and backed all of the currency for the Phillipines from about 1899 to just after the war. There was a shipment of silver dollar type coins dumped over board ship to keep them out of Japanese hands. The story is detailed in the Redbook by Whitman under the phillipines section. Value is around 5 to 8 dollars.
