Finds for the last couple weeks

When I was a kid, when they used to harvest the lima beans, they used to fill the gunnysacks full of lima beans Also, we used to have gunnysack races....How

YEAH---I remember those gunnysack races--BOY WAS THEY FUN!!---Why in the world didn't they say--"it went gunnysacked"--instead of--"it went gunny bags"???-----This mystery is deepening but we ARE getting closer to an answer for you, Mattockman.---The expression then, MAY have originally been derived from the word "gunnysacks"---BOY, THIS IS GETTING GOOD!!! But it looks like that edge is getting VERY CLOSE now! Later, Del

Mattockman - where are you from? (you weren't kept in a closet were you?) Course if you are overseas, then maybe you wouldn't know it.... (Just giving you a hard time)

I used gunny sacks for fishing. I would wade in the water catch a fish and throw him in the sack and close it and had it tide to my belt. (you wouldn't get stuck by the fins if the bag was against your leg)

RIGHT ON BROTHA!!!!-----We ARE going to get to the bottom of this deep bag--uh sack- no no no I mean QUESTION!!!---Don't try & figure me out---(you'll end up being as nuts as I am). I gotta go hunting!!!!----Del

the dfx is still easier to use for me...but I am pulling in a lot of clad with both also....right at $300 for year between them... Give me another 4 months on the Se...should help me quite a bit, still have not found my comfort zone...but it is doing a great job.

 ......Just giving you a hard time!.....I am still a Virgin so I am Isolated from the Wide World of Sports!....How to bag a fish!
I personally have the bag boy at the grocery store bag it for me.........then I go home and Cook it on the Barbie, Mate! :minelab:

I think the Quantum Infinium was a Briggs/Wright product.
I remember speaking to both Peter Briggs 1978(well known West Aussie in his field(Hesperian Press, Garrett Detectors Distributor, very clever man).
I nearly purchased one about 6 years ago when about 10 of them were released to a local Cash Converters. Was regarded a great detector. Very light coil which I THINK was a Bob Hollins product. Located and spoke Mr Wright ( I can't recall his first name) about the Quantum Infinium.
Still, it was only and advanced a vlf unit. I was hoping to better the Explorers abilities by maybe hanging that box around my neck............What was I thinking?

Aahh yes Dave I remember now... :smoke:
His name is Gerald Wright, ~ he was responsible for the Midas VLF detectors too... ( Midas 400 and 500 come to mind.)

They were also unique in that Gerald made adapter leads for the detectors so that you could use other various makers
coils, I recall that the Fisher Gold Bug coils were especially popular.
The detectors were initially set up to use Minelab coils of the Gold Seeker 15000 era....
Smart move !
~ Gerald didn't have to make coils then, did he !!!

A guy called "Pennyweight" used to review these Midas detectors in our "Australian Gold Gem and Treasure" magazines.

Thanks for responding Dave.

Thanks Gregg - I tried out the settings you are using and I found a merc today... Course that could have been right place at the right time. :beers:

Got the Excal coming now... SO detecting 5 days a week, I should be back in shape. (took a coulple years off after the Army)

It might have also been the right place at the right time as you mentioned. These settings are working well for me though...between the dfx and Se I am over $300 in clad... I also have been getting out 4-5 times a week... But a shift change is about to slow me down again...I was getting out 3x a week but knew I would be leaving midnights, so I got out 11 of first 13 days this month.

Taking a few off now...sore arms, back, but mainly have other things I have to do. A silver here a silver there... This year as been odd for me, I am not having any giant clad days...just more consistant $4-$5 days, with more wheats and silvers mixed in...but less gold. I did hit a 14k earring with the se yesterday. I saw something shining in the woodchip of a tot lot I was hunting...ferrous reading was 10... I think came up a 10/12... but odd after that readings were either none or a broken signal... Good luck and as you know the more we get out with the Se...the better it gets!:detecting:
