I took advantage of the mild weather further south and no snow and extended my hunting for the year.
All finds shown are from taking some extra work holiday PTO and stringing a few days of hunting at researched old public city parks and schools in Nebraska and Southern Iowa with my Minelab Etrac.
I limited my hunting to unshaded areas for easier digging. The ground was still fairly soft.
Yesterday morning it got much colder as the day started about 12 degrees and the ground was very stiff so I figured it was time to hang it up for the year.
I joked to some locals yesterday how it was still balmy weather compared to Fargo which hit -10 while I was gone.
The 1891 Seated dime was 10-11 inches deep and read like a wheat penny with a slight highness to the tone so I was hoping it was old silver as I was digging it. The scratches on the front of it are old. An 1887 Indian penny and that Idaho company tag were also found at that site.
The 1917 SLQ was only about 7 inches and by far the easiest signal of the trip. That was a complete gift that was just missed in the corner of an old park. The walker was on edge in the hold and initially sounded like it was part of a larger signal until I Isolated the nice high tone.
The large 925 silver ring has Thailand hallmarks on it.
I believe the other silver ring to possibly be a homemade silver coin ring as it somewhat crude and has some peculiar Indentations inside the band. It is definitely silver as it is tarnished in places.
Yesterday I was chasing deep War Nickel like signals (12-15/12-16/12-17) and I saw the shine of a gold ring. It was about 7-8 inches deep and I was happy to end the year with that.
The $20 bill was a surface find at an old school yard.
