Started with a Compass back in the middle 70's. Picked the hobby up several years later & started using a White's 2500. Upgraded to a Fisher 1265. Back in the day that was a deep detector. Had to learn how to listen to them whispers though. Upgraded from there to a White's XLT Spectrum. Picked up a Fisher 1235 for competition hunting. The XLT was my favorite machine. Sold out & quit hunting for many years. Starting back hunting now with a borrowed Fisher CZ7. Seems like a good machine but I do miss that old XLT.
