Favorite Clad/stab Detector ?

Having said that, i found enough clad to last a life time and not especially interested in finding anymore.
Got buckets of dug up clad laying around and don't need no more. The thrill of finding a handful of clad, well those days are gone.

Ditto....!!!! After last season where I dug $253 in clad/zinc (I do dig the coppers and sort/save seperate and don't count) I realized I was wasting very precious time that SHOULD have been spent seeking out the older deepies. I made a decision to not dig as much new stuff this season?

Yeah, its like fishing for minnows when you could be fishing for 10 pound trout! :spin:

Unfortunately I haven't been out in over 3 weeks due to getting my winters wood put up and mainly due to having to travel so far to have a decent chance at older stuff in the big city (220mi rt). Looks like this season might be somewhat slim for me on the numbers but also very happy with the quality coins I've dug so far this season?

Ironsight.... Last season I dug 3 gold rings and 1 so far this season. Got em all chasing the nickel numbers. I'm a coin guy period and could care less about jewelry. In the future, you might dig ALL the nickel signals and maybe stumble onto some gold like I did (or a V or buffie!!!!)...??????:

In the heavier trashy parks around here and i mean trashy, i typically discriminate out anything in that junk range.
When i do use my 'liberal' nickel notch in less trashier parks, i do find nickels lots of them but no gold rings. Gave up on gold, its all about silver for me.

You guys that enjoy the clad...have at er and have fun with it while you still enjoy it....!!!!!

And when you guys loose you old sites because of clowns with shovels come on aboard!:detecting:

Yeah i sympathize with you guys i believe in Crook County with the new Forest Preserve BS metal detecting ban.
The parks here are still available for metal detecting BUT they are all hyper pounded. Not the same as total bans but might as well be the same.

There's a point of diminishing returns sometimes no returns in the parks around here. I think in a lot of areas the shovel wielding newbies are finding this out and hopefully give it up after digging one pull tab after another. Time will tell.
I detect these days mainly to get out and keep my gear from rusting not expecting to dig up another Seat'd but there is a certain challenge in searching a pounded park which kinda keeps me going at least for now. The good thing about finding a coin in a pounded park is its usually a walked over oldie.

The only alternatives as i see it are private property permissions, local city parks or road trips.

Anybody can easily go out and find $5-$10 in clad in a few hours...lets say you find nothing but 120 zinc pennies...thats what a generic silver dime is 'valued' at today...so there you go, all of us would like to find a silver dime every day, a clad hunter basically is and a lot more...so take that dirty clad and go exchange it for silver coins down at the LCS..if silver coins are your thing..Hell, buy a gold coin every other month if you wish...

Averaging '5 silver dimes/few hours' is a way to fall in love with detecting silver again when all the wild silver dimes are hunted out ..and every once in a while you will hit a wild one that was missed..you are out hunting, which is the main thing!.

A fast and dedicated cladder's efforts should translate into a value anywhere from 500+ silver dimes per year, just hunting weekends strategically. Whens the last time anybodys found that many?...every once in a while you get into a place just loaded with clad and conditions are perfect!...like on this one day last December I'll never forget!..The BF half was a welcomed bycatch, all coins stabbed with nothing but a screwdriver....
Mud

Mud you make a lot of sense horse trading clad for silver.

Had a fleeting thought about doing just that last year until i reminded myself i'd have to sort it all for any key dates, wheats or silver thrown in by mistake, etc.
Might even want to hang on to later date copper pennies.
Could take a year to go through it all or maybe 3 or 4 Winter projects.

Posted this pile pic before but here's my clad take for 2012 alone the only year i took a collective keeper pic and thats only a small fraction of my total clad stash.
Most of that clad was found while hunting known silver producing sites, now the clad and silver is pretty much gone at those sites! :super:

I'm sure some of you dedicated clad stabbers have bigger yearly piles......my back hurts 'again' just looking at that pic.:nopity:

my last clean out, but as mentioned above pretty much got the bulk of it around here, so my next full clean out might be a long way off and so its gold or give up or move.

Sorry for misleading you with my post Ironsight...I dont cash in my clad to buy silver.....just saying a guy could if he was so inclined...

Like any good tosspot, I spend all my clad on cigarettes, gas and beer!..:sadwalk:.For instance, todays clad was a pretty paltry haul, only amounted to the value of one silver Q...On the way home I bought cigs and beer, and topped off the tank for tomorrow... so I'm bit behind for the weekend, but at least I'm enjoying myself today!! I tell you boys, a heaping stack of stinky clad is a good sight better than a heaping stack of nothing! Good work!:clapping:
Mud

No wonder you can afford 8 freakin detectors. :surprised::rofl:

Mud, no misleading at all.
Its just that if i ever get off my a$$ and finally do something about all my clad, i personally would convert it into silver.

My take on why silver.
Gas today is roughly $2.50 a gallon. I remember the days when it was 30 some cents a gallon a little more than a Quarter.
With just one silver Quarter today, one could buy 'almost' a gallon of gas today with today's silver spot price.
Sad that silver held its value over the years when paper, ink and zinc didn't.

I don't even know where all my clad is anymore, would have to look for it..... you know that once a year panic Spring cleaning over the years coupled with a touch of Alzheimers!:spin:

Most of my newer clad sites still have a chance and some newer silver aka, Rosies,Quarters, etc. And a chance for gold also just by the volume of coverage. That is why I like the Bigfoot coil on my XL-PRO as my clad stabbin' machine. With this set up can cover a lot of ground fast.
