FAST ON / DEEP ON

Bell-Two said:
With deep on, or fast on is there any effect on how Target Trace appears?

None that I know of or have noticed.

While beginning my metal detecting addiction in 1994 when I was very healthy, I have used many detectors in many different places.
I currently have the AT Pro and Safari. August 1 of this year I added the CTX. Since 8/1, I have dug more nickels (my nemisis) than
I have with both the other detectors since February to August of this year. I hunt with both fast and deep on. However, I hunt slow
not due to a habit but because of my health. I have run across a few "peeps" with deep on and when I went back over it I could not
get a hit at all. I then went to P2 and there it was on the bottom of my screen. Now I hunt some of the trashiest places ever with
bottle caps, pull tabs, childrens tacks for school, and crushed erasers from the top of a pencil. Three things I use to determine what I
am seeing is the pinpoint sizing, P2, and checking it from many different angles. This post has given me another idea
to add to those iffy signals by using the fast off to also help ID the target. So thanks guys. The picture is of one of my "iffy" signals at
9" deep.

Nice ring, Glenn. Those thin women's rings are the ones I look for cause they are most likely to have stones.

On my Safari, I found that 14, sometimes a bouncy 13 was a nickel. But it if EVER hit 15, even for a moment and then bounced back to 14, it was a pulltab.

In my neck of the woods, and the types of places I like to hunt, I prefer Fast OFF and Deep ON with the stock coil. JMHO HH Randy

SO FAR
have not seen any real improvement with both settings on. i did see audio being clip-ed on 8 in. dime. but i also run one setting most times.!! i will keep testing
but dont really think there is a big benefit.in keeping them both on. if some one has a special setting/mode that make them shine feel free to chime in THANKS!

Minelab, My soil conditions here in the Pee Dee (low land) is probably the kindest to all metal detectors since I have
been reading about others on here. The only time I have ever run into anything but loose sandy white and mostly black
soil is sometimes the state will dig a lake to get the dirt to build a road across a swamp and in doing so they get occassional
streaks of gray loamy and sometimes red clay soil and they use it for fill dirt where a large tree or something has blown over
in a park. I have read how others have used the fast on and off and deep on and off and I run mine with both in the on position
ALL THE TIME. When I run into that fill dirt I just back up on the sensitivity. Sounds backwards with that thick clay but seems
when you pour the sensitivity on you get false readings at shallow levels whereas, with the sensitivity lowered down about 1/3
from the recommended point, the signals pick up deeper, clearer and faster. Believe me I have tried everything with mine but
that setting seems to work best down here. One thing I found that absolutely does NOT work with mine is Ground Coin. I just
can't grasp that one yet. Most all the time I run Fast on Deep on and a sensitivity level at or below what the green line shows.
But what works for one doesn't work for all.

OK GLENN
next time out i will see today will be a good test ground is wet and i will test wen ground gets dry again. as far as GC goes i use to check 4 iron and were mineralised
ground gets bad!! were i live a have a mix bag of soils some are sweet but i think most are bad 1-2 placec were ctx runs 15 10 sence and less in them areas running
GC seems ok now wen i run through my test garden sence around 24-17 i can hit in all modes with auto+ even ground coin!! now pinpoint is differant. you will get
icon and then nothing, but audio wins over all.

thanks glenn good hunting

OK GLENN
here is my test results ran the CTX in AUTO-A all day. this park loaded with junk!! fast on- deep on silvermode new and improved program!!
took my time,4hrs. maybe a 20yard.x20 area signals comming through no problem. now this area junk area pull-tab -iron nailes etc. in spots
that i have been through allready signals starting comeing in out of no were. after 2 silver and copper wheats maybe 5 i was shure something
was working,. it seemed today . on 1 hole had 2 nails in with the dime, but no problem icon (dig) some were even circled with iron trash.
so what i seen today in test 1 was AUTO-A -fast on and deep on made a differanse on target s at 5-8in. in an area that has been hit many
times. CTX- sence ran around 20-23 that i though would be ok 4 todays test. next test will be manual 20-23 and see if extry power will affect id-ing
so glenn good call!! i may not use in every place but wen i need to run lower levels of power this will work fine. recovery today
80% good targets- dug a couple of nails but i think we all wood have, because of the game. one dime mask by bent nail had me thinking not
the best signal but under nethit i clad dime.

you get two thumbs -up today!!!

What is "AUTO-A"?
Do you mean Auto with no plus or minus value?

HI KIN TN!!
auto a is the middle of the auto setting next going up +1-+2 etc. i may have used +3 but iron junk all over. one day i was testing a signal and forgot i had on -3
or A and seen the pro coil seperate like a 6in. coil, because power was low in the trash area! but today i had +3 couple of times but the trash was to much to
liston to. so there is something going on with low power and fast and deep ON!

more tests to come!!

minelabbob

you may even try ALL-METAL

in trashy area with that setting. it seem that all metal would shine through the signals better.

MINELABBOB

AGAIN WE TESTED
fast and deep on auto+3 and never change. at times it was as high as 25-18 sence and low as 22-16. ran in allmetal most of the time and the iron in the ground

never quit in this one area. but signals still came through wen a coin or pull-tab showed up. today was pull-tab day and what ever dropped in the hot zone.

solid icons no bouncing around target trase on target and it helped find a 1875 indian that was hiding in the iron. so again in auto+3 fast and deep on work

A-OK. and ,will be a go to setting from time to time 4 me!!
