Falsing....Falsing.....FALSING!!!!!!!:ranting::ranting::(

Something I discovered with mine at local beaches is that higher recovery numbers (6+) will bring on the channel chatter noise. Cut it back to 3 or 4 and it is way better, and you can bring the Sensitivity back up to 23-25. I just don't know if I was in Beach 1 or 2 when I realized it. Might be true of other 1/2 modes, just have to try and see. Let me know if any of you experience the same thing.

One thing to consider with sensitivity is what the scale means.
Turning it down to 1 does not mean zero sens. The 1-25 scale may
match up to 75-100 % or 50-100% sens. or something like that.

My Safari is a real chatter box. I run sens from 10-15 and it does not
seem to effect depth. Coins still come up from 8-10" which I consider
good.

On a communications receiver you have an RF gain that controls how much
to amplify incoming signals. Set it too high & it can make the radio sound
like crap. You can miss the very weak signals you are looking for due to overloading.
Bottom line is a comms radio has a bunch of adjustments. RF gain, audio gain, AGC,
bandwidth filters, notch filters, noise blankers............ Just like a radio a MD needs
to use its adjustments in concert to get the results you want.

The difference is that a comms receiver has controls which vary well defined properties of the electronic circuits - described in language which is agreed as common by users and designers. Minelab on the other hand has all technical data written by folks who do their best to obscure, mask and mislead - so as to create the aura of mystical power instead of plain talk about what is being done with the electronics.

Just my opinion, of course...

It’s a similar case when Giorgio Popadopolus isn’t allowed into Area 51(or is it 52?) to have a look around and see the UFOs....the people in charge just don’t want the info floating around because some numbskull will do something with that information that isn’t wanted! Like....steal it,copy it,etc. Im sure they’re just protecting intellectual property, but trust me Rick,I’m just as curious as you!:)
If they can create an aura of magic for sales purposes AND the technology actually works!....well,everyone will want to try it out. Eventually I’ll hop on the wagon and ride for awhile to see this for myself...
I’m still marveling at the abilities of my dinosaur Explorer!

If it aint broke then don"t fix it is the old adage. New user---stick to the factory settings. The Minelab boffins have worked hard to obtain the basics to operate straight out of the box. [ Ex Deus owner---now 800 and smiling ]

I don't know about that, the Explorer is a joke with the factory settings. Maybe the Nox is different.
